Dependable Sealant and Adhesive: A Review of J-B Weld 31319 Black RTV Silicone Sealant
I recently had the opportunity to use the J-B Weld 31319 Black RTV Silicone Sealant and Adhesive, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and versatility. As someone who frequently tackles DIY projects and repairs around the house, finding a reliable sealant and adhesive is essential, and this product certainly delivers. One of the standout features of the J-B Weld 31319 is its exceptional durability. Once applied, it forms a strong and resilient bond that withstands a wide range of environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations, moisture, and vibration. Whether I'm sealing gaps in plumbing fixtures or bonding materials together, I can trust that this silicone sealant will hold up over time.Another aspect of this product that I appreciate is its ease of use. The nozzle allows for precise application, minimizing waste and mess during the sealing process. The consistency of the sealant is ideal—not too runny, yet smooth enough to spread evenly and fill in cracks and gaps effectively. Cleanup is also a breeze, as the excess sealant can be easily wiped away with a cloth or sponge. The black color of the sealant is a nice touch, especially for applications where aesthetics are important. It blends seamlessly with dark surfaces, providing a clean and professional finish that enhances the overall appearance of the project.Furthermore, the versatility of this product makes it a valuable addition to any toolkit. Great, but if I could change one thing
I’ve purchased numerous times on Amazon and in person and it works great. One piece of criticism is that once you open it, it tends to dry out in the cap, which can be difficult to get out. I do wish there was a way to remove it easier so that way the needle cap can continue to be used but overall there is no odor consistency is great and it dries like a rubber which is exactly what I’m looking for.

Works well.
It is black. It vulcanizes at room temperature. The stock seems good, not too old.

Good
I used this on this for a valve cover gasket and it worked alright. The tube basically blew out the back end when squeezing so be careful. But other than that it was fast easy and dried quick, which is what I needed. It’s as easy to remove as most siliocine caulkin. And it stuck pretty good. You get a decent amount per tube. More than you could ever need for 1-3 jobs. And the color was what I needed, but if you’re using this like you should, the color should matter as it’ll be hidden for the most part. Over all, it’s good but I which the actual tube it’s held in was More durable, no reason it should bust open just from squeezing it. But the size is good, you get a lot of it.

Best general purpose RTV I have ever used
The ULTIMATE black is the best working and curing product I have ever used from any RTV manufacturer. It smooths on like soft butter with no clumping, excess cleans off easily, and it cures into a true rubber-like material. It makes great gaskets and sealer. The only other RTV product I buy now is the extreme high-temperature red or copper. J-B Weld Ultimate Black is not formulated for high-temperature use on vehicle exhaust headers and connections.

A tidy repair
I cleaned the area, let it dry, then squeezed a narrow bead of silicone along the edge. The tube was easy enough to handle, though I went slowly so I would not make a mess. I pressed the trim into place and left the car alone while the sealant cured, following the directions on the package.A few days later, I checked it before driving to the library. The trim stayed put, and the black color blended in instead of drawing my eye to the repair. That was the part that made me glad I had bought this one. I still keep a damp cloth and a small scrap of cardboard nearby for jobs like this, since silicone can get on your fingers in a hurry.

As with most of these goo-in-tubes, the caps are designed to break.
The sealant & adhesive works great. However, as usual, after the first or second use, you'll find the cap is cracked and the top half-inch of the tube is dried out. The only way to salvage what's left is to poke a hole on the bottom of the tube and enjoy your last use. This J-B Weld Black Silicone isn't the only tube this happens with. It's more than a coincidence when this happens with almost all gooey stuff that comes in tubes. I believe the caps are designed to break so the contents will dry up and we'll have to buy more stuff. The best thing to do is after you use this stuff for the first time, is to cap it right. Perhaps put a small piece of a plastic bag over the opening before screwing the cap back on. Maybe steal the cap from your toothpaste tube and see if it fits. Good luck.

Very very good
100% recommend.I bought this off the back of a chat with AI on the best silicone sealer for a new Scorpion GPF back exhaust. Couldn’t be happier with the seal. I made 2 rings, approximately 2-3mm thick inside the female end of each of the 2 connecting pipes for my i20n.Formed a complete seal and have half of it left, which probably won’t be used. No air leaks, no smell or burning. I did give it around an hour to set/ cure after putting bits of the car together having rented a ramp for 6hrs (fit other bits too). On initial startup underneath the car there was zero burn off or smells etc.Highly recommend the copper silicone version.

Does what it’s supposed to do
I was happy with this glue. It was easy to use and control. It was a great alternative to hot glue .The items I repaired stayed together well, and drying time was reasonable.I’d buy this again and I recommend it for household fixes.Everything I used it on was successfully repaired.
