Does it stay in place while changing the sheets and lifting up the mattress?

Yes it does! My son had a regular bedskirt on his bed before this one and this one looks so much neater and tidier. Makes his whole bed look better!

How sheer is the white? Need to cover a light blue floral design on my boxsprings and don't want that to show through the white.

Mine covers a dark gray box spring nicely.
