Does this require our own 2 aaa batteries? it is difficult to open, how to open?

I had to provide the batteries. The device is hard to open to insert the batteries. The red section slides forward on the black section after you press the red button on the clip. I used a thin blade to pry the red section forward after depressing the button on the clip. The good news is that the device works great!

Can you test christmas LED string lights with this?

Hello good afternoon, you can run the tester along the wirring insulation to see if their is a break in the wirring but to test the little socket it may be troubling.

Hello good afternoon sir, The circuit board is probably made in china, but for a cheap product it works for me in basic troubleshooting in electrical circuit installations.
