I love woodland scents, and this soap is the bomb! The scent stays consistent till the end of the bar. It is gentle on your skin, and it has a nice foamy action. Plus you get this quirky Government Made emblem imprinted on each bar, which makes me think there is a story to be discovered about the origins of this stuff.

I bought this soap on a whim after seeing a YouTube video on how it's made. Sure enough, clicked on Amazon and there was the same soap. Couldn't remember what sandalwood smells like so took the chance to try this. It arrived today and when I smelled it my eyes went to the back of my head...the scent is amazing. Took it into the bathroom and opened the bar, set it on the edge of the tub and one of my kitties (who's into incense and scents) took to sniffing it, big long sniffs and she gave me a delightful look like she enjoyed it. Took my shower, let the soap sit on all pits and creases to trap the scent and kept smelling the bar. Kitty sat on the edge of the tub sniffing the soap when ever I set the bar down. Not too sudsy, you're not going to lather into a bubble cloud, rinsed fast and no after slime but the scent rinsed away way too quickly.I hope we will be able to buy a perfume made with this same oil. This scent is heavenly. Glad I have 12 bars and it seems like not much got used on this one so it may last quite a while. Would buy again.Rose used to be my favorite scent, now it's Sandalwood.**Hold the fort -- just took another shower (2 hours later) and boy-oh-boy, the sandal scent is even stronger and lingers on my skin afterwards. No dryness at all, just smooth soft silky skin. Rinsed clean. This time instead of a loofa I applied the soap bar to my skin and that seemed to work better for me. It was like a creamy slightly lathering foam. This time my other kittie walked right up to me to sniff me and sniffed a long time, then rubbed his face against my hand. They are loving the wood oil. I may look for real sandalwood stick so they can play with it. This is my absolute favorite scent. I just ordered the talc and the incense sticks. And the bathroom smelled amazing when I walked in for my second shower.Please make a body spray with sandal oil.This batch was manufactured on Oct 2017 and it's best used by 3 years from that date. *like it will last that long*P.S. - We have a water softener. May make a difference to some users.

Really a wonderful scent. I got hooked on sandalwood from getting Taylor of Old Bond Sandalwood shaving cream and shaving oil. I found a video on Youtube about how they make this Mysore soap and saw it available on Amazon. Its reasonably priced, so I got 12 bars. Love it and well worth it!!

That lovely scent of sandalwood and the "soapiest" of soap, but the scent doesn't have the intensity or last as long as some sandalwood soaps I've used. Great price for a dozen compensates well for the less intense aroma. Each oval bar comes wrapped in plastic and is then inserted in its own box. The soap lasts much longer once you begin using it if you take it out of the plastic and let it dry in its box - good way to lend the aroma to sock and scarf drawers. Soaps up with a creamy sensation. My job means I wash my hands frequently and I can say that while it isn't a moisturizing soap, neither does it dry out my hands the way some other soaps do. I'll buy it again for sure.

I was so delighted to find this soap here! I live in India over 20 yrs ago and this soap was a daily joy to use back then. I haven't seen it since. The scent brings back good memories AND is just as powerful as I remember it being. The whole bathroom smells of it, and it even wafts into the hallway. It really stays on the skin too so if you are very sensitive to smells or live/work with people who are, this amazing soap may be too much. It's a great daily hand washing & shower/bath soap as it really does leave you feeling very clean with no residue.This is not really a moisturizing soap however, something to bare in mind. I wouldn't use it on my face for this reason. An additional moisturizer is a must after this soap.

Sandalwood soap has a pleasant, clean scent. Leaves skin super clean but also has a drying effect.
