A: Yes, you should match the waterproof battery and the condition switch of PWM signal.

**Q: what speed controller to use? and how to get the missing 5V signal to the speed controller?**
A: The speed controller is included. This just takes the motor power and a control signal. You don't need to connect up a separate 5V. However, you will need to share ground between the motor supply and you receiver or whatever generates the control signal.
