These HD storage cases are perfect for storing individual 3.5" SATA drives! I bought a set of five cases for my audio recording business. We use several SATA Seagate drives (500GB to 2TB) for multiple recording systems (hot-swappable SATA bays and external SATA Docks), with active project backups and archive. We have several 'inactive' drives at any one time, and occasionally need to transport drives to locations. Until now, we have slipped the drives back into the original anti-static plastic sleeves and stowed them in a foam-cushioned case. Not so great - potential for loose foam pieces, dust, dirt, and secure fit were all concerns. Also not convenient if you want to just take one drive to a location or studio. These cases feature a sturdy construction (plastic thickness and quality is quite good); a good snap latch; good edge seal (wouldn't dunk these in water, but a spill shouldn't be a disaster). All of my drives fit them, though the 2TB drives ARE snug. The cases stack without sliding around from a slight bump of the table/desk. Case label is limited to a few lines, enough for drive name and general description. No space for a long list of items, but you can always keep a detailed list on paper in the case (e.g., print screen of your drive's file browser window). We keep logs of project locations, and just designate Drive Name/Letter. The anti-static/shock matting inside is an excellent feature; it lines the entire inside of the case. The lining is rather firm, not flexible and foamy, so don't expect much soft cushioning... which wouldn't be much protection to a hunk of metal anyway. Granted, I wouldn't be dropping these things, but the quality of construction is reassuring. Very happy with these, and will be purchasing another 5 (or more) cases! Price for the quality of these is fine; much better than sliding your drive into a thin plastic box with ridges and a few strips matting. Definitely worth protecting your investment! Great hard drive cases, but taking a star away because they changed the design slightly for some reason. The old design had a better clasp. Previously it had a real clasp that you folded up, with plenty of finger space. The new design requires pushing in on one side while pulling up and out to open it. Another negative is they no longer come with the adapter for 2.5 inch drives, which is partially why I bought another pack of these. Though it's my own fault I didn't notice the changes in the pictures to see the changes. They're still great cases, seems plenty durable and protective. The use of a "living hinge" doesn't bother me much, as I've seen other reviews mention, as they can be rather durable, lasting over a million flexes.

I picked up the grey 5 pack of foam padded cases. My goal with these are storage of backup drives in a media rated fire proof safe. I have had them for less than a day at the time of this writing, so this is more first impressions. What I am finding right off the bat is while these are a little big for bare drives, I actually feel a little more comfortable using the static bag that came with the drives anyway and then sticking the whole deal in these cases. This way you get anti-static protection for sure with the anti-static bag, a foamy box layer around that which interlocks with the neighboring cases, then I have the fire proof safe around that. The anti-static bag that the hard drives came in are actually perfect for these cases, filling in the buffer space for the most part and making for a snug fit so the drives cannot move around too easily in these boxes. Another way I have thought of this is if the place burns down, there is a lot material with boxes in boxes and bags and such to keep the drives under the thermal limits for as long as possible. While I would not consider water proof, you can probably spill your coffee on these without damaging the drives. Something to consider about mechanical hard drives is they are often rated to take hundreds of G's while at rest, but say you drop a bare drive onto concrete, even just tipping over, and the shock the drive receives from that abrupt stop will be over whatever this rating is for a very brief moment in time, but that is all it takes to ruin a hard drive. So having a plastic box with just a little bit of fairly stiff foam is all you need to protect your hard drive from a lot as it can smooth a fall from a 1,000+G very brief, but fatal spike, to well under say a 400G acceleration over enough time to keep it from spiking over the damaging force limit. It would have been nice if these had a metal hing like you see in little tool boxes, but instead it is just a thin piece of flexing plastic. My goal with these are to periodically swap them out with the next backup array, so not too frequent on the opening and closing of them. Hopefully the plastic hinges will last a little while.

I would rate this at 4.5 stars, but that's not an option, so I rounded up. In my opinion, this HD storage box is close to perfect. The only thing I don't care for is the hinge mechanism that joins the two halves together and allows the top to open. The "hinge" is just a really thin piece of plastic folded over on itself. They went this way because it's quick and cheap to manufacture. Instead, I'd like to see a piano hinge type mechanism, with a thin steel rod acting as the hinge. I'd gladly pay more for this exact box with that hinge mechanism. To be honest, I don't think this will be too much of a problem for me as I store my backup drives in these containers and only access them monthly. If you're opening and closing these daily, I could see the hinge breaking fairly quickly. The plastic is hard and the top latches down securely. The interior is cloth-lined on top of semi-rigid foam. You can indent the foam with your finger but it springs right back up. The quality of the materials used is very good and the fitment of the drive in the case is A+. The drive does not move around at all with the lid closed. The design is subjective. I like functional, industrial looking things and this case nails that look. Having a label/area for a removeable label is super-useful. Better to have an area where you can stick a label vs. writing on the case with a Sharpie and then having to cross out what you wrote over time. Would buy again.

these are very nice drive cases. older drives can be a very tight fit but all of the newer drives (within 10 years) fit perfectly. I would not test dropping one but they are padded and pretty solid so the drive might survive.

Se trata de un conjunto de 5 fundas rígidas para guardar discos internos de 3.5" y protegerlos de golpes, polvo, etc. Me gusta que cada una sea de un color distinto para distinguir los discos, aunque también cuenta con una etiqueta donde escribir notas. También se pueden apilar sin que se muevan, gracias a los surcos y protuberancias que hacen que encajen unas con otras. Los discos se ajustan perfectamente a la funda y el cierre es firme para que no se abra con facilidad. Por ponerle una pega, la bisagra es de plástico muy fino, lo que da una sensación de fragilidad. Desconozco si, a la larga, abrir y cerrar repetidamente la funda puede provocar que la bisagra se rompa, pero si se utiliza ocasionalmente, no creo que sea un problema.

I like the cheap price and for such a bargain the strength of the material and the quality of the padding is great too. They hold my loose drives really well and these are pretty much exactly what I wanted to keep my drives in that I previously had wrapped in anti static bags while I wait to get round to sorting through them. The colours are a little garish but they will do the job if you need to differentiate them. I would probably have preferred just them to just be black but the price point means I’m not complaining. I was a little confused about which way to put them in too as there wasn’t any info on that and there’s an embossed logo or circular shape on one side that looks like it might fit the visibly similar side of the drive but presumably it doesn’t matter that much. The latch you open them with is a little bit tough to open though but you get the hang of it eventually and the fit is very snug which keeps them from moving around too much but also means that they can’t be slightly different or have anything attached like they might do on an old Mac Pro. The label is only on the front of one side too which could be impossible to read if you stacked them but the colour scheme helps make that irrelevant. Overall great protection, great price for use a useful little case.

Those are amazing, it fit the hhds perfectly and it keeps it from moving, there is soft fabric that case absorb shocks inside.. I recommend those
