Awkward optics reduces it to mere toy status
Magnification of course depends on your display size.It does indeed zoom over a wide range of focal lengths, but is by no means *parfocal* the way expensive optics would be. This means that as you zoom in or out, you have to get closer or farther--a lot. At lowest zoom you hold the scope a foot or more away from the subject, while at highest zoom the focal point is literally closer than the clear plastic front end of the scope. So to be practical, select either a distance or zoom level, then the device determines the other; you can't choose both & keep it focused. Then hold it very steady to get a screen shot. The adjustable stand is a gratuitous add-in. It's way too short for lower zoom levels & too tall for higher zoom levels. Being plastic it lacks the weight needed for steady positioning.Resolution is 640x480 -- "VGA"The ony software packaged with the device was a Mini-CD that I couldn't read with my optical drive. No downloadable device drivers that I could find online. I took it to a computer shop where a tech found some compatible software somewhere online.
