I had many other "artisan" soaps to use, so I gave this to a friend who did not mind the scent, he really liked the performance and the price of this soap. Last month I decided to give this another try, I was not offput by the scent so used it once, now I use it daily! While the scent is strong when first opened it has mellowed out after two weeks. I like that this is a somewhat thirsty soap, meaning use lots of water to make your lather. I find that I get a very smooth and cushiony lather that does not dry out like Williams Mug can, just a smooth comfortable shave. The price is excellent for the performance of this soap, and the scent while strong at first does not stick around after rinsing face after my shave. Gives a very generous lather, decent slickness, not much in the way of skin moisturizing, lasts forever. May be as much as 100 shaves in a single stick. The drawback, besides the lack of skin conditioning, is the smell. At first I liked it, my wife liked the smell. Then after a while unfortunately I turned on it, or it turned on me, so I don't use it anymore. It's a very polarizing love it or hate it scent that is extremely hard to describe.
