Would 5m be too much for a 55inch tv. i measured around my tv and it would seem that 4m would be adequate. how would i deal with the excess?

This is 5m RGBIC Pro LED Strip. The RGBIC light strip can't be cut since the leds are controlled by individual IC. The strip light may stop working if you cut it. You can attach the light strip to the back of the TV in a serpentine shape.

I need 16meters and I would like the rgbic is there anything I can do to connect them?

It's not recommended to extend the 5m RGBIC Strip Light. It's advised to plug the 2nd strip light in a different power plug and then use the Group feature on the Govee Home App to control them simultaneously.

Can these be linked to any motion sensors using smartthings or other alternatives?

Yes, the is a device handler for SmartThings.

Can you please advise how long the power cable is from the plug to the control box. Thanks
