When you pick up a book from a new author, you have expectations going in. Mostly, am I going to like the story? Will I be entertained, engrossed, feel a rollercoaster of emotions? And for me at least, the biggest question is: will I connect with this author? When I purchased Naked by Raine Miller in the Spring of 2013, I had heard nothing but great things about her and her writing, so I was very anxious to read it and see if I agreed with all of the praise readers and bloggers alike were giving her.I devoured Naked. Breathed it in and felt it deep inside. And then I proceeded to inhale and devour All In and Eyes Wide Open. Luckily for me the first three books in the Blackstone Affair were available so I didn't have to wait for more of the story. And I was hooked. I read the first three books and then re-read them countless times while we waited for book 4 in the series. And I read her historical stories while I waited as well and fell head over heels for a certain Italian speaking Mr. Rourke. Every book Raine released, I snatched up and devoured. Why am I telling you all of this? Because I love her writing. Her stories, her style, her words, all touch me on a very deep, personal level. It's like she just "gets me" and writes these books for me. I read just about every single day, tons and tons of books by so many different authors. And there have been a lot of really great stories written by a lot of really great authors. But I can count on one hand the number of authors whose books have resonated deep inside and had a lasting effect on me. Raine tops that list.When Raine first announced she was starting a new series of books that would center around an American Blackstone Dynasty, I was beside myself!! In this first book of the new series, we meet Caleb Blackstone, a filthy rich, super hot alpha male who dare I say, had me swooning for him as much as my beloved Darius!! Raine has an uncanny talent for creating incredibly sexy, protective alpha males that make your panties wet and your heart melt! And she is equally talented in creating heroines who have suffered many trials in life but have come out the other side stronger and wiser from the experiences. Such is the case here with Caleb and Brooke Casterley. From the first glance at Brooke, Caleb is drawn to her in a way that he has never been drawn to a woman before. And he's been with his fair share of the opposite sex, so what is it about this woman that sets her apart? It's more than her beauty and that sexy British accent she has.As Caleb gets to know Brooke, he falls deeper and deeper under her spell and becomes more and more obsessed with being her protector, her lover, her everything. He remembers something his father had once told him, "When you find whatever it is that makes you happy, Caleb, hold onto it with everything you've got. Your heart will let you know." Brooke is equally as smitten with Caleb, but events from her past cause her to be much more cautious about giving her heart to someone. Add to her hesitancy is the fact that she is a plain old working class girl and Caleb is a billionaire from a very prominent family. How is this going to work? She feels the odds are stacked against them from the get go.I fell really hard for Caleb and Brooke. They fit together so incredibly well. They play off each other's strengths and provide support to each other in their weaknesses. Theirs is a classic, timeless kind of love. I laughed with them, shed a tear or two with them, I melted and fanned myself on more than one occasion. I absolutely adore the supporting cast of characters and cannot wait to see what their back stories are. I particularly love Brooke's Nan and Caleb's Uncle Herman and seeing where their path took them.I don't want to delve too deeply into the storyline because I want everyone to experience it for themselves. Raine's books are the kind that I wish I could erase from my memory and get to experience all over again for the first time. I hope everyone picks up Filthy Rich and gets to know Caleb and Brooke. He's also a filthy talker, and he has achieved considerable corporate success. His personal life, though, needs some help. He isn't so much estranged from his family as he is distanced, emotionally and physically. His focus is his business, passed down to him by his beloved father. Caleb recalls his father's last words, which implored him to prioritize love in his life. For Caleb, that love is mostly career-oriented at the moment. Romantically, he prefers to remain unattached.When he sees Brooke, a comely blonde interior designer, in a coffee shop (hey, Starbucks, you owe Raine Miller some advertising money!), he finds himself immediately drawn to her, and he can't understand why. She's beautiful, yes, but Caleb is surrounded by beautiful women. Something about her, though, affects him. He knows he must have her.And what Caleb Blackstone wants, Caleb Blackstone gets.Brooke won't make it easy, though. It engrossed me - the story, the characters, the connections between the characters, all bundled together was nothing less than an absolute fantabulous read.The story follows Caleb Blackstone and Brooke Casterley. I fell for Brooke straight away. At first she comes across as a kick ass female with some serious sass but that is certainly not the case! She has so much history for you to discover you will just fall for her all over again! Then there is Caleb….Caleb, Caleb, Caleb, where will I find me one of those!? OMG if Raine wanted to write me my ideal man then damn she did it to perfection! He is HOT and sexy and swoon worthy, but sweet and dedicated and every god damn thing you would want from a man! These two characters together will make your insides melt! Not to mention all the others you stumble upon along the way!But don't be fooled, their story may not be simple! It has twists and turns like any good romance does - and Raine brings you along for the ride!
