Giant Snowcone Service Bulletin
My brand new Goodman Heat Pump which hadn't yet gone thru a winter heating season was icing up like a giant snowcone. It was under warranty but I installed it myself. It initially did not defrost and had the same problem that the original one had and froze up solid again.I then moved it to a colder coil and bingo it defrosts now and never freezes. The 2nd winter season I found there was a Goodman Service Bulletin that instructed relocating the defrost switch to where I had moved mine.

This is NOT a upper defrost sensor but it will work with some mods to the mount. 2012 model goodman

OEM part
This is a OEM part and works as is’s should.Normally open, closes at 25 degree and open again at 62 degree.Price is almost half in HVAC Distribution but the convenience of delivery from Amazon worth the extra money.

Bought 3 times, failed 3 times.
I have purchased this item 3 times. The first time it failed closed resulting in a large heat bill (Defrost too often) (same as OEM). The next time it failed open after a couple months (no defrost). I replaced it again a few weeks ago and it failed open again (wont defrost). I do not recommend this item.
