Dollars Review: Dollars (Dollars Vol 2) -- Pepper Winters - Theme song: "Just One Yesterday" by Fall Out Boy Elder came back for Pim, but not for her--for himself. Her silent strength seized his attention, drew him in without her consent, and overpowered their will for distance. But now that he has her, the entire game has changed. Pimlico belongs to him now, but he is not her sordid master. He is her rescuer, her care provider, her saint sheathed in shadows and secrecy, and a complete conundrum. To Elder, she is an antidote to his aloofness but the poison to it too. Regardless, her fortitude and brokenness seep into his veins, corrupting and confounding Elder. Trapped together at sea, there's nowhere to run or hide. For either of them. While Pennies presented the physical horrors of Pim's captivity in Crete, the second installment centered the repercussions of having lived in constant purgatory. In Dollars, we ventured into Pimlico's long road to recovery and integration back into society. It lagged a little for me in certain parts, but that was probably because I prefer intense scenes. The ones that make you have to turn the page to see what happens next. This book was also sincerely dark. It was not an erotica, so if that is what you're looking for, I direct you to the Tears of Tess. Comparing the Monsters in the Dark series to Dollars, the former seemed grayer in comparison. They both had intensity, a dump load of sexual tension, but split between committing to the physical act. Dollars nor Pennies got hot and heavy in the way MitD did; it was deeply character-based. It explored how two damaged people must steal each other's secrets while sorting through conflicting internal emotions and trying to cling to their sanity. All that said, Dollars was an amazingly written novel! Compact with description and depth while steadily evolving the characters, I loved the prose and structure of the book and the emerging romantic dynamic between Pim and Elder's complicated relationship. While I preferred the first novel over this one, volume two introduced the goal of the following books while withholding enough to pique interest. It left off with a semi-cliffhanger, allowing the reader a satisfying ending if they choose to discontinue the series or a push to dive in with Hundreds. 🍉🍊🍍 Hero rating: 5 Heroine rating: 5 Writing mechanics (literary elements/devices usage included): 5 Plot rating: 4 Dialogue rating: 5 Storytelling rating: 4.5 Story ending rating: 5 Sexual tension rating: 4 Sex scenes rating: 5 Sex scenes frequency: 2 (not good nor bad, just occurrence rating) ********************************************** Overall rating: 4.7 stars Would I recommend this series: Yes. Review: Engrossing, Enrapturing, Enthralling, Entrancing - "I was breathless. I was witless. I was utterly spent and ripped apart. The song was an eternity. The song was a second." - Elder Prest The breath litrally left my body after I finished this book. I was stunned by the ending. It is not a cliffhanger in anyway. It does create a craving for the continuation of the story. I felt the prose so lyrical and musical that my imagination rocked like I was aboard the "Phantom" along with Elder and Pimlico. This book in the "Dollars" saga is a tour de force for Pepper Winters. No one does "meaningful" dark erotic romance better. Easy solutions to soothe battered souls, heal damaged psyches and mend broken hearts are not to be found between Elder and Pimlico as they engage each other in a push and pull of want, wishes and sexual desires. Both are damaged. Elder, the the thief, who constantly offers Pimlico choices when he is beginning to realize his choices when it comes to her are ever narrower. Pimlico, a slave brutalized beyond the pale, is healing physically but intense psycho-sexual wounds still haunt her as she tries to deal with her growing attraction to Elder. Ms. Winters' power of description is so captivating: "In the Moroccan sunshine, his skin turned a molten honey while his hair carried nightmares itself." - Pimlico The part of the "Dollars" story that was told in this book is a gloriously satisfying read but there are complexities at work in this story that make it hard, so hard to wait for more. And lest I forget, the story has that wonderful touch of sexual heat. A lot of healing of the damaged characters goes into the blazing hot sexual encounters. I have chills!!! I suggest you get in on this feeling! These writings are truly praise worthy and worth their weight in dollars.

Slow but still a great story.
As I read: At 29 percent, Pim not talking is becoming tiresome. I admired her strength in the first book because holding on to her silence was a victory over her cruel captor, in every way. In her new situation, however, her silence is not a victory over Elder. Instead, it is hindering communication and is working against her. She has questions and all signs point to the fact that Elder is willing to answer those questions if she will just voice them. While she is right to be weary of him, the kindness he has shown to her should cause her to reevaluate her tactics. Her silence is now a weakness. 61 percent: this story is still engrossing and I want to continue reading to see how it all plays out. With that being said, just like the first novel, the pacing is slow with too much repetition. I'm skimming through the chapters now, skipping the inner angst of both characters because nothing new is being presented. Also, at this point, Pim's continued silence is not understableable, even taking her previous abuse into consideration. 72 percent: I don't understand Pim's actions at this point. I won't spoil the book but why she chose to do what she did instead of just speak when Elder has asked her to speak more than anything else, is beyond me. The last 20 percent of the book is strong. Great pacing and character development. Ends with a powerful scene.

I'm sorry I'm speechless, I need so much more you have no idea. And even after everything I still have such soft spot for elder. I don't agree with all his actions but I understand most or them. As for PIM she needs to grow a back bone, I understand what she has been through is just pure torture but boy cause of that she needs to be tougher stronger etc. Can't wait for the next!!!

What can I say, I love Pepper Winters, I'm hopelessly and absolutely in love with her... after the indebted series this is fast becoming one of my all time favourite. The story is dark so if you have a faint heart stay away. The author is a master in describring every feeling, every emotion every struggles both characters go through and believe me they go through a lot! I definitely recommend reading the whole series just be warned the last book (so you can only read another one after this) in the series ends in cliffhanger and you'll be like a person on diet in front of a cake display you see on TV so close and yet so far (the release date for the next instalment is August).

*self-purchased on Amazon. No need of sugar daddies called promo teams* What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible) This is the second book in the Dollar series. The previous books must be read in order to understand what is going on. This is a dark romance with two leads that have a lot of hurdles to overcome. Go in with an open mind. I should’ve reviewed this right when I read it, but instead, I kept reading until I finished the entire series in the matter of four days. Well. Thank goodness I have hundreds of notes on almost every book of the series. I found myself in my element in this book. I’m a female-centric reader; I don’t exactly know how to describe it, but when others swoon over male leads, I take closer looks at the female lead. And in this book, my baby girl went through some major shifts in her life. Rome wasn’t built in one day. My baby didn’t recuperate in one day either. I admire her strength and I wanted to hug and protect her so bad. When I reached the end of the book, I looked forward to what the future held for her. I wished the best for her. I see what Pepper did; I think I notice a pattern after reading Goddess Isles although one can argue that she does so with both of her characters. What I mean to say is: Elder opens up gradually throughout the series. At first, he’s such a mystery. In this book, he still was. There were hints of what was to come and it was intriguing to see where it would all lead. He is so mean with his words. UGH. But he’s such a hottie. And our girl a hottie, too. Phantom was a great and well-needed change of scenery. I thought I’d be claustrophobic, but in all honesty, I loved the journey the characters went on in a physical sense and not only the emotional one. I respected that it wasn’t insta-love. I rooted for my two little tormented love birds and I knew that it would take them a while to find to each other. Will the real Pepper Winters please stand up? she has an award to pick up. FOR BEST CLIFFHANGERS EVER. Like damn, woman. I recommend this to readers that want a story of perseverance, strength, love, loss and pain. This is very dark and readers should proceed with caution. This is Pepper Winters at her finest dark moments. ORIGINAL COMMENT: The cliffhanger has me OWNED wtf WTF OMFG I CANNOT TAKE IT this book what a journey MY GIRL!!!! LOVE HER DEVELOPMENT. Elder.......... we're closer to figuring you out!!!

OMG...OMG...OMG... There was literally a moment in my head when Pim was screaming in the book and I was screaming the same words in my head while reading and I literally had to take a pause and tell myself to calm down. OMG ..the character development was so good and so to the point. You cannot expect a person who has gone through so much trauma to just open up and embrace you no matter what you have done for them. There is always an underlying distrust in them for you and that too has been developed because their feelings have been channelized that way for so long that they feel it is normal. Elder was understanding at times..but I feel he lost control a lot and that too is also something very realistic and appreciative according to me. It would have been very easy for an author to paint the perfect hero but to show that our hero is a normal human with his own flaws and that he is not perfect, is something really appreciable. Overall a big 10/10 for this book and the way the book showed both Elder and Pim's side of the story, won my heart. I couldn't put it down and literally completed it in a day!!! Love this book. Do buy guys!
