Can i put training wheels on this bike

We just bought this bike for our 9yr old and I wouldn't think training wheels would be great for this bike. This is a fantastic bike. Much better in person than online.

Gears 4,5,6 are not working. What may be causing this and if anyone has a potential solution? Thanks.
