How do these hook up without a hot water tank?

this takes the place of a hot water tank. there are connections for the water and gas and one plug to an outlet. it heats the water as it passes through the unit.

Can it run for 2 hours without stoping?

I have not run it 2 hours but it made it through 1 hour and with people flushing and turning on the sink.
