The tie is made from black faille silk and is of good quality. I've only worn it one time so far and it ties well and stays tight. A bargain for the price.

Nice tie. The slight texture in the fabric is understated and classy, a subtle step up from the shiny finish you usually see on silk in this price range. Appears to be well-constructed; kept its shape after an evening of wear and then being accidentally crumpled up in a suitcase. Every bit the equal of a tie I paid $50 for a decade ago.

Love this bow tie because it was less shiny and silky. My husband preferred the texture and more of a mat look.

Needed this in a pinch at it was perfect.

For the cheap price and being 100 % silk, it's a great deal. The cut and the handcraft doesn't have that luxurious drape that an expensive bow tie would have; however, for the vast majority of men this level of quality goes above and beyond what one would need.I would recommend this to any man, save the most eccentric clothes horses.

Needed a black tie. Last minute purchase. Kind of thin and flimsy but did well in a pinch.

The first picture of the bowtie shows a smooth bowtie texture like one would expect for a tux, but the actual bowtie has a ribed texture which wasn't what I was looking for in a bowtie.

Not a self tie bow tie, it is ready tied! The description is totally wrong. The package is even labelled self tie, but it is in no way a self tie, the bow is stitched onto the band! John Williams needs to sort themselves out - other reviewers had said it wasn't self tied, but I took a gamble thinking they had made an honest mistake. Shame, because the finish is lovely (and matched my lapels material perfectly). Returned this for a refund which was done easily and quickly with no problem.
