IC 3 EZ-Change Inline Icemaker and Refrigerator Filtration System with Filter, 500 Gallon, White

I only just installed this filter but wanted to post a few notes that might help others. I bought this to replace my Culligan IC-1000 Easy Change Inline Filter System, which I've been using under my sink for nearly 12 years without incident. The reason for replacing the system in the availability and price of replacement filters. The new EZ filters are more readily available and a few dollars cheaper than the 1000R model. There's also the issue of NSF certification. Because Culligan no longer makes the IC-1000 system, they didn't renew the certification for the 1000R replacement filters. I did a little digging a while back to find out if, even though the 1000R wasn't certified does it still filter out microbes and other contaminants. I contacted Culligan and was assured that YES it still does. The IC-EZ-3 would permit you to use the existing water supply adapter, ¼" tubing, and faucet." So I did. Installing the IC-EZ was simple. I just had to drill one hole, as there was already a screw hole where the IC-1000 was mounted. I snipped the ¼" tubing that was in use and fit the ends of the tubing into the IC-EZ filter head then mounted the new head under the cabinet. Easy peasy. I ran the water for the recommended 10 minutes, filling up a few gallon container for watering plants. (I hate waste.) Three hours later, no drips. -- Here's a hint for drip detection. Place a folded news paper under your work. Come back an hour or two later. Any leaks wil be easily detected on the newsprint, which discolors when wet. I don't expect any issues but if there is, I will update my review.

We've been using this for about 6 months or so. I set it up under the kitchen sink with a countertop drinking water faucet. It is convenient to use and the water tastes great. The flow rate is slower than a simple filter that only has carbon alone, but it is worth it due to the increased filtering ability for drugs, toxins, etc. in the Level 3 filter. Overall, the water is clear and tastes great, this and the 'clearly filtered' pitcher make the best tasting filtered water I've drank, anywhere. I also like the quick twist filter, it is much easier to change them this way.

This in-line filter is so easy to install, just 3 screws (included), a pair of scissors (not included) and a drill (also not included) is really all you need. Doesn't come with any drywall anchors, but I got lucky and caught a stud with two of the 3 screws. Make sure you've got enough supply line for mounting it where you want. Not sure how long the cartridge will last, or if it will make my ice taste better, but that's not my primary concern. I needed a filter rated for lead removal, and this fit the bill nicely.

I bought both the under the sink EZ-4 and the ice maker EZ-3 at the same time and I am very sorry I did. Would have given zero stars if possible. The filter cartridge itself seems well built but the remainder of the pieces are complete garbage. All of the fittings are plastic which in itself is bad on a unit of this price, but to make matters worse it is very CHEAP and very WEAK plastic. Why not charge an extra couple of bucks and put copper fittings for the hose connections? To top it off I tried calling customer service at 4:25 pm central and got message stating they are closed and that normal business hours were Monday through Friday 9-5 central time. I was then directed to press 2 to leave a message and when I did i got a busy signal and was disconnected so it is off to the hardware store to replace the plastic supply connector that was not threaded correctly at the factory. Really was a horrible experience and I am planning on returning the the filter for the ice machine (EZ-3) since I have not opened it yet. Would highly recommend that you do not purchase these filters until they start selling quality components and having reliable technical support. THANKS FOR NOTHING CULLIGAN. ***UPDATE*** Culligan contacted me and offered to reimburse what i spent in parts to install this if I sent them the receipts. Water filter is now installed and works great.

I ordered one of these for use with my GE Profile refrigerator. It already has a GE filter inside of it that never worked correctly and never had any water pressure. It wouldn't even fill up the ice trays inside to make ice. So after buying and getting disgusted with idk how many GE filters we decided to just not use it. However, our water is so horrible that it made the ice taste awful, and who knows what all is in it that affects our health so we began searching for alternatives. This is it! We installed it in a cabinet beside our fridge so we would have easy access to change the filters. The water tastes great and the pressure/flow is good too. I was worried bc there were some negative reviews for the level 3 filters in regards to the flow, but this is 100 times better than the GE filters! Also the taste is far superior to the Pure brand filter that I use in my sink and I talked my hubby into installing one under the sink to replace that now as well. It is also much cheaper than Pure filters. I figured out that I go through a Pure filter every 2-3 months and the Culligan only needs replaced after 6 months and at far better price here on Amazon Subscribe and Save program. I also like that you can interchange with any of the other EZ change filters. So A+ Culligan EZ-3!

My wife asked that our next refrigerator have filtered water, but there was no need to wait. I installed this just past the tap in the water line running to our refrigerator and it works great. Installation is very easy, as is filter cartridge replacement. This is an easy home improvement project that will take less than an hour for the average reasonably handy person, and will make you look like a hero.

I read a few reviews where people complained about water flow. My experience was that yes, it greatly reduced water flow for us, but it's still acceptable. I do want to share a tip that seemed to help here. The instructions say to run something like 10 gallons through this thing before using it. What I noticed was that initially, water flow almost came to a stop. Somewhat makes sense - the cartridge is shipped "Dry", Probably takes some time before the contents are 100% "wet" What I did was run a few pitchers of water through then let it sit for a bit (maybe 5-10 minutes) then went back at it. The water pressure improved from it's low point, and is acceptable today. (though still slower than the pre-filter state) The big thing for me was, our water would taste funny after being left in a glass for part of the day, I have no idea what was happening - right out of the faucet, water tasted fine, but fill up a glass and drink it slowly while working and 3 hours later the water would have a funny taste. With the IC-EZ-3 filter, water can sit around all day and it still tastes great. Some people mentioned getting clear ice cubes with this filter - I've not seen that yet - mine are still cloudy. Overall very happy to find a filter that reduces Lead and makes the water taste better in the process!

I installed this on our new refrigerator that only has an icemaker and no internal filter. I can't really see the difference in the ice quality, which is fine, but my goal is to keep the water very clean so the icemaker does not get crudded up. One complaint is that the EZ-3 filter has a low flow rate. So far, all the cubes are full size. The push on connectors are easy to install the tubing. Just make sure the cuts are straight.

great filters for the price that is why i buy them on sale, use camel camel camel and when the price drops i pick a few of these up and i am good for the year. I bypassed the fridge cartridge and plumed this baby in and saved some money for the life of the fridge.
