I would not let my toddler try and pull on it any more than I would a towel rack! But it does have a strong metal arch. It’s very easy to assemble! Only took minutes. It looks just like the pictures. It’s also very stable. The marble looking base is quite heavy. I would not let my toddler try and pull on it any more than I would a towel rack! But it does have a strong metal arch. It’s very easy to assemble! Only took minutes. Good quality item for the price point.

-Finish of the item is a rough black matte. -The base is different, shiny, but was scratched up like crazy and it looks like VERY EASY to scratch. Good thing these lamp styles usually end up with the base under a couch or easy chair, like mine did. So all's good there. -The box it came in was way too destroyed to even attempt to send it back, so again, I'll keep it because the base doesn't show. -I put it together in less than 20 minutes by myself, though if you're not too tall, you might have trouble putting it together alone because different pieces of the 'stem' seem fragile - BUT AREN'T, at least so far. -The foot switch would be handy but wasn't long enough to go under my couch and come out up front, so just wound it up the stem and reach it by hand. Also workable, plus....it's a big couch; yours might work fine. I think the cord length probably shows in the description if I remember right. Okay buy one and ENJOY! It's really much nicer than a ceiling overhead light; a dimmer switch involved would make it even better but I haven't done that yet.
