Does this reduce noise/voices for two people sharing an at home office?

These panels barely muffle sound - they won't do what the much heavier (and more expensive) office partitions can do. I use mine for a home office as well, but if you want them to muffle sound, try draping a heavy king-size comforter over them.

how much of a gap do the feet create from the bottom? I'm trying to keep a cat out of a room
