Moen GX50C Disposer Prep Series 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Sound Reduction, Power Cord Included

I recently had to replace my old garbage disposal and decided to go with the Moen GX50C Disposer from their Prep Series. And let me tell you, it's been an eye-opener. My previous disposal was so loud, it felt like it could wake up the entire neighborhood every time I used it. It was one of those things you don't realize how bad it is until you experience something better. And this Moen disposal? It's a world of difference. It's not completely silent – I don't think any disposal can be – but it's as close as you can get to a quiet dream. It operates with a mild hum that's surprisingly soothing compared to the racket I was used to. And it doesn't just sound better; it works great too. It pulverizes food waste like a champ, leaving nothing but oblivion in its wake. Installation was pretty straightforward, and it comes with a power cord included, which is always a plus. The sound reduction technology Moen has used in this model really stands out. It's a relief not having to brace myself for a wall of noise every time I need to dispose of food scraps. In short, I absolutely love this disposer. If you're in the market for a new garbage disposal and noise level is a concern for you, I'd highly recommend the Moen GX50C. It's efficient, relatively quiet, and a significant upgrade from the older, louder models.

I replaced an InSinkerator 1/3 HP with the GX50C 1/2 hp. My Insinkerator Disposal was typical in the sense that it was loud, it was Atypical in the sense that it was leaking like a sieve through the housing. I have never owned a MOEN disposal before but at the price and what it promised I really couldn't argue. The worst that would happen is that I sent it back for being less than it promised. If you're mechanically inclined this is novice level installation. Super Easy and universal enough that I could have just mounted it onto the old InSinkerator parts. I decided I'd like the MOEN brand name in the sink so I changed out the drain piece. Also pretty simple to do. When I turned this on it was super quiet. We have an open floor plan between the living room and the Kitchen. Had I been on the couch I would have never known it was on. The old disposal was loud enough to drown out sound coming from the TV and that was before you started grinding anything. I only ground up some small items like eggs shells and it really is still pretty quiet all things considered. If you're looking for a new disposal I'd give the MOEN brand a try especially the ones with the sound dampening housing like the GX50C 1/2 hp. Hope this was helpful Update 2022 Moved from my last home and in my new home the Insinkerator gave up working as well. Figured I'd give this another try since it worked so well the first time. Still easy to install on existing hardware and still quiet as can be. Generally the banana peels go in the compost but I'm amazed at how well this machine obliterates them while maintaining a low ambient volume. Still recommend for anyone who needs a quieter machine and easy installation. Price is still good even if it is about 10% higher than the first time I bought it.

Whe leaves a review for garbage disposal? I do. So, here the facts.. its works great, the instructions and install was super easy, the actual only issue I ran into was the uninstallation or my old disposal. This one is quieter, stronger, faster and black, grey with chrome so it looks good everytime I open the bottom cuboards and come with a matching top plug! So..some advice..If your installing the dishwasher remember to pop out the white plastic piece to allow the dish washer flow, the instructions are very easy to follow and walk you through this and every single step, and was the maon reason I had no issues with install, cause I like to skip around, but they are very well written and digragramed. I also added an extention switch next to the sink faucet (where a soap dispenser would go, youtube it if you need more info) so I dont have to reach over to turn it on. Yeah, were spoiled, haha anyways... this was a good buy for me, old disposal i had was previous installed with house, so it was ok.. but a no name brand and died and started clogging up, now I am staying with good brand and reputation, even if its a little more these are priced well, and they function better, last longer and come with registation warranties. Install was pretty easy. It's relatively quiet. My only two qualms is that i can hear it bog diwn a little even with just water, but the water thing is what has me confused. When i first installed it, i noticed the drain hole on the unit is almost perfectly on the same horizontal level as the drain pipe after the P-trap on my current setup. I don't know if this is what causes the problem or if its the rubber insert for sink drain/hole that causes water to go in the disposal and seemingly almost immediately begin to back up a little until i turn on the disposal. Then it seems like the disposal spinning is pushing the water through the drain pipe. It only seems to do it the most even i turn the sink on full and the water is going straight from the faucet into the drain of the sink. Again, i can't tell if it's the rubber thing not allowing enough air into the sink drain, or if its the plumbing setup of my current sink as mentioned above. In my mind i seem to feel like the drain hole/outlet on the disposal unit should be higher than the horizontal drain pipe after my P-trap on my current setup. The thing is, i would lower it, but it would be a bigger job than I'd like to do. So I'll just continue using it as it is. It's really not too too bad. Ill attach pics.

I'm giving this five stars because it works well and was easy to install - replacing an insinkerator that had failed. My only slight gripe is that it sounds like a mooing cow when it's run. It's not overly loud but it just sounds different - and subjectively, unpleasant - when it's on. I have no reason to think this isn't how it is supposed to sound so I can't deduct any points for it but it's just something to note. I replaced an insinkerator with this and it was relatively painless.Thankfully, the bracket that is attached to the sink is the same one that comes with this so I didn't have to un-do any of that. I basically just released the old unit and stuck this one on. The instructions are kind of confusing because they have to cover every possible situation that you might be installing into but if you are replacing an existing unit, I gather the brackets on the bottom of the sink are pretty standard so you shouldn't have any trouble. Don't make it harder than it needs to be is I guess what I'm saying. I've been using this for several months now and it's working fine and I've gotten used to the baying of the disposal cow under my sink.

This is a great disposal. It is easy to install. It is quieter than similarly priced models. It looks nice. I was excited to put this in, which is weird for an item you'll rarely look at. The included drain adapter is polished stainless so it feels high end and a little special. I would have just used the hanger from the outgoing unit, but this one is just that much nicer, so I willingly increased my time under the sink. The backsplash preventer is super easy to remove and will go in the dishwasher unlike the old one that stayed dirty longer because it was hard to clean. The drain plug is also polished stainless which also feels posh. This unit still makes noise, but it is a far cry from the roar of the Badger 1/3hp it replaced. It's only been a couple days of having it installed, but I look forward to a long service life since they're willing to put a 5 year warranty on it. We mostly compost food scraps and trimmings, but the disposal is nice way to pulverize whatever ends up in the outgoing dishwater to minimize clogs.

These are fantastic disposals. Nylon composite chamber literally cannot rust/corrode, so you'll never open up your sink cabinet to find water spewing everywhere like most of the other brands. It's just common sense - there should be no other design now that this is available. Anyway... It's still affordable and 1/2 HP is plenty if you're not shoving chicken bones down this thing. And frankly, if you're trying to, stop doing that and USE THE TRASH CAN ;-) The rubber gasket removes easily for cleaning, and the nylon chamber is sloped to the top, so it's super easy to clean the inside of the disposal quickly with a bottle brush. It's not perfectly silent, but on my cast iron/enameled sink there is no vibration. The only real noise comes out of the drain, and it's not terribly loud, just the sound of the water and blade spinning. It can be blocked by aiming the water stream strategically. I also have a rubber coupler on the drain pipe between the disposal and the vertical drain, which prevents any vibration from reaching the plumbing or the floor. I do think this makes a noticeable difference. Also, if you have a thin stainless steel sink, you're going to have some motor vibration hum which can be resolved by adding some sound deadening mat (like used in cars) to the bottom of the sink. Or, you can pay 2-3 times as much for a "quiet" disposal that may or may not have the corrosion-proof grind chamber. Note: Stainless steel grind chamber is good, but NOT corrosion-proof.

The Badger 1 that came with the house and was a bit rough and rusty to begin with seized up. I've had a few prior experiences in apartments with Badgers doing the exact same thing so I decided to go with this Moen because it's grinder chamber looked to be all stainless while the ISE offerings at a similar price/HP point were not. I was happy to find it uses a compatible interface flange and identical drain connector positioning, so replacing the old one was just a matter of disconnecting it and popping it free. Took me about half an hour and is probably the easiest plumbing repair I've ever had to do because of it. This also lets you keep the old flange with matching wear in the sink if you want to, so you don't have a beat up sink with a suspiciously shiny and chrome disposer hole. Eats all the stuff I need it to just fine. I don't put a whole lot down the disposer because it goes into a septic system, but I like having one so I can grind up too-small-to-compost food particles like rice grains and bits of veg stuck to plates before sending them down so they don't clog the pipes. I'd say it's a little quieter than the Badger when running with just clear water flowing into it, but it still sounds like a garbage disposer when it's doing its thing. For something I use in 30 second bursts for less than a couple minutes a day it could sound like a jet engine and it wouldn't bother me. Only complaint about this order is that 2 days after I bought it it was on sale for 25% off.

estoy muy descontenta porque compré este producto. No tiene clavija para enchufe español, tiene 115 voltios y tengo que poner un transformador a la potencia española. En el anuncio no avisa nada de todo esto, los voltios si pero no me fijé porque si se vende en España ya doy por hecho que se venden aparatos adaptados a la potencia que hay en España. Me siento absolutamente descontenta.

Silencioso que maravilla lo unico negativo es que es desechable una vez que cumpla su ciclo de vida útil. Esperemos dure algunos años. Ojo no lo usen para triturar vidrio. Jajaja

A bit loud compared to my previous InSinkErator but the price was superb and included the cord. Very solid and works well.
