McGraw-Hill's Complete Medical Spanish, Second Edition

I do media relations in a large academic hospital in the Midwest, and am taking a free "Spanish for medical professionals" course through the hospital and university. This book is very clear and plainly written so I can learn necessary words and phrases - and it's easy to understand.

This book was written primarily for medical practitioners. However, it has been of great use to me as an aspiring medical interpreter. My study group used this book to prepare for our oral exam. It has great dialogues to practice from overall (in both English and Spanish!)

I thought this would be a terminology dictionary in spanish/english format, it isn't. Although it has a few pages of that, it's not very broad. This is actually a textbook you'd use in school to learn medical spanish. It's got lots of illustrations, is easy to use, but not what I wanted. Great for someone with a strong will for self-teaching.

I really enjoyed this book because its straight to the point and teaches you what you really need to know in a hospital setting. There are many exercises in the book and diagrams that could help you as well.

Very useful for Medical trip to Nicaragua. Only problem is some phrases are too proper for more rural area dialects. But, you can only learn the dialects by going so, it's a good starting point.

Excellent book,and it is helping me very much. I highly recommend it is very detailed and it is easy to understand.

would definitely recommend to others. I bought it for for a medical spanish for professionals class and am able to still use it for a basic spanish class.

I got the Kindle Fire version. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with this book: The text itself is awesome, but it really needs audio which is unavailable with the Fire version. Many of the pictures do not have any English text. The scenarios they take you through are awesome and I feel the author(s) have written from personal experience with patient encounters. The vocabulary and encounters get more complex as you progress. Ultimately, you are directing the surgical team in the OR to perform repairs of a subdural hematoma. Okay, I'm lying, but you will be fully prepared for patient encounters by the time you finish this book, with culturally sensitive care. Overall, it is a wonderful experience. Loss of one star for no access to the audio available in the box set.
