Do you put 1 on each end or just 1 on 1 end?

You install only on one end. To make a cross over cable you attach one of of these adapters to a regular straight through Ethernet cable

i have a cat 5 ethernet cable going directly from my netgear router to my xbox 1 i want to play computer games through my xbox 1 do i need crossover

No router to computer (Xbox) needs a straight cable. A crossover is used for like devices (computer to computer/ switch to switch or hub). Hope this helps

Yes it works. The only difference between cat6 and cat7 is the frequency the data is transferred at! :)

They have versions that come with a cable, but one of these adapters, and an ethernet patch cord will do the trick.
