Easy to control. Cuts quickly and evenly
I have several acoustic, electric and bass guitars so I opted to buy the full set of files. This came with every size of nut file that I need to maintain and set up and service all of my guitars. The handles are well made, and make these files really easy to control, cutting slots quickly and accurately. Just keep the files straight and go slowly and you will be fine. The diamond cut abrasive on the files keep these razor sharp and working like a dream. They came with a nice carrying case to keep things organized and include a brush to keep your files clean. These are not cheap but if you build or maintain your instruments this a great value compared to the other guy's diamond cut nut files which are significantly more expensive.

Very happy with these, nice results
These are amazing. The file is contained in a way that you're less likely to scratch the head stock, yet easy to grip and control. With the full kit, sizes are no issue. I used them on my 12 + 6 (EDS-1275) and the options were good. I don't mind going a smidge larger when filing the nut to allow for larger strings down the road. Being diamond, they file bone no problem. The cut is fast and accurate leaving a smooth channel. They do load up a little, but to be expected. That's what the brush is for. It took an annoyingly high action guitar to one that plays like butter and sounds great.

Yes! These are the ones!
These are perfect. I've cut a few nuts and deepened several more with them, and they're still as good as new. I love how rigid the smaller ones are. Makes cutting .010 slots a breeze! And the slots that you're left with are smooth! Great product!

Great set of nut files for use with any guitar or bass!
I own many different guitars and I set them all up myself. This kit enables me to fine tune every nut on every guitar. Even my bass guitars! When used in conjunction with the Stewmac nut gauge, I can set the action at each nut perfectly. Also, you can remove the file from the little handle for better access and the get the right angle where the string leaves the nut and the angle to the headstock. I donโt know how I survived so long without this set! My setups are so much better now! Before adjusting the bridge action, I always check the nut now and using the nut gauge and these precise files, I have improved the action on every one of my guitars! I have also helped my friends with their guitars and they have all been happy after getting the nut action perfect. Use these sparingly though. They can cut very fast! Measure often when shaping the nut depth so as not to go too far!!! All in all I love these files.

Amazing set of tools that's far better than the cheap stuff
Often with luthier tools, you can get the cheaper stuff that still does the job just fine. It might be a bit less ergonomic to use, or won't last as long, but it'll work. But I have found with nut files, you really don't want to use the cheap stuff because they are a real chore to use. I debated for years whether to spend big and buy this set, and while it's very expensive, it's worth it. I now cut and refine nut slots using a fraction of the time it used to take me using the cheap crap. The files are sharp, effective, and far more ergonomic than the stuff I was using before. With this set, I can do everything from standard 6-string guitars to baritones, 8-string, to 4, 5, and 6-string basses.

Been using these for almost a year now
I find these files to be better than my trusty 80's made-in-Japan Hoshino/Ibanez factory files. These new diamond files are a bit uncomfortable to hold, not really a big deal though... more like something to get used to. I think if my hands were giving me problems it would be a problem where I have to fashion some sort comfort handle for the files. In use the diamond coating is definitely something to get used to, these files can remove material very fast and I have to pay close attention to what back-angle I'm aiming for well in advance of hitting my target depth. I often will use a very light touch, almost no, pressure as a kind of a "clean up" pass as I get into checking range of a slot. I also find it useful to tune all the way to pitch as to check for the string sticking in the nut. As I find sticking I try to very lightly file to polish out the gripping, in most cases as this happens it seems to have more to do with angle leading up to the leading edge of the nut. Using nut slot lube really isn't solution, when a slut is done correctly band-aids aren't necessary and these files are very capable of creating an excellent nut or bridge slot that provides for smooth tuning that also will relieve tension back to the tuner or stop tailpiece after a string bend. Awesome set of files and I'm glad I bought them, I will admit it was a little tough ponying-up the dough... for me it's been money well spent.

THESE ARE GREAT FILES BUT
Musicnomad makes excellent products. These files are no exception, but they come with these little numbered stickers you must put on them if you do not want to keep them in the little bags and store them in the case. These stickers help you keep the grades apart. Unfortunately, these stickers do not stick to the files. In order to get them on the files you have to get out the Elmers and glue them on. And that makes the work tedious and messy and boring. All my files are still in the little bags with the numbers on them because of this.

Worth every penny
This set works very well. It cuts quickly and accurately. They are a little on the expensive side however I haven't found anything on the market that is a reasonable substitute. In fact some of my luthier friends ask to borrow theses tools because they work better then what they have. Ultimately I would recommend them to any serious luthiers it should be the only set you have to buy.

The best available
The big kit looks expensive, but as with most tools you get what you pay for. Will now be able to retire my mix of hosco and stewmac files. My only issue is the price jumps up and down constantly because it's not UK stock.

Luthier's tools.
My luthier friend is delighted with the nut files I sent on to him. Neither of us can understand why Amazon refused to send the set directly to him.

I like these alot
Too expensive but very good product . These make slotting bone nuts easy . The blades come out for the fine angling filing required for the string towards the tuner peg .

A Must Have in our Shop!
All around a very good product! I bought the 16 File Kit, it came with a cool case and nice easy to see labels for each file. I tried the 046" on a guitar i had on the bench, the file worked 10x faster and smoother than my normal files. I put this product on the top of my Luthiers choice at Carparelli Guitars!
