Review: Outstanding! - I can't recommend this E collar enough. We have a now 1 year chocolate lab (named Mocha) and right around the 8-10 month mark she became very testy with us. It was like having a teenager in dog form lol. Anyways I used the E Collar orginally for off leash training with Mocha and it worked extremely well. As long as you know how to use it properly the dog will catch on very fast. To train Mocha on it I followed these steps... 1. I made sure Mocha had a solid foundation of training commands in the house such as sit, down, come, stay and so on. Inside is easy compared to outside with the many distractions and smells outside. 2. I then took her outside using a 100ft drag line and basically repeated these commands. Every time she listened such as coming to me I would give her a treat. If she didn't respond on the fist time, I would vibrate her and give her the command again. At this point, if she didn't listen after 2 attempts at the command she would get shocked with the command again. Believe me I can tell you how many times (handful of times) I have shocked her because dogs quickly understand they need to listen to our commands and they don't want to be shocked. The shock function goes up to 100 and I originally started it with level 12 but we leave it at level 29 which is the "sweet spot" for Mocha. Mocha is approximately 60+ lbs and is extremely active so she needs a little bit more "umph" to affect her and get her attention. 3. Within days, I didn't even need the drag line because Mocha knew she wasn't going to just run off, she quickly paid attention at all times awaiting commands or playing fetch with a toy. 4. I used this exclusively for recall training at first but ended up using it for Mochas teenageness as well lol. Now for her testiness that was the teenager phase as my wife and I called it...in the house when she would for the lack of a better phrase get bratty with us. We would simply pick up the E collar remote and she would quickly listen or stop doing what we were telling her to stop doing. Every now and then a vibrate but its extremely rare she gets shocked because she knows the vibrate is her warning. Anyways Mocha is a completely different dog within just days of having this E collar, she listens, she doesn't test her boundaries anymore (partially because she's grown up too) but now we have complete control over her. Like I said earlier in this review, if you the E collar properly, there is nothing inhumane about it. Its not a punishment tool, its a reinforcement/ attention tool. Also your dog needs to know what your asking of them, so they need to have the solid foundation of commands from the get go. And you need to work that in with using the E collar so your not just telling them to sit and shocking them for not listening, then they wont get it. Kind of hard to explain, but for people who use this and know what I am talking about, know. Seek professional training advice if you need or use Youtube which has plenty of videos teaching how to teach your dog tons of things! I know this E collar is expensive, BUT I have tried 2 of the cheaper ones and they never really worked. As soon as I got this one, it worked right away and the battery life is phenomenal! I end up throwing on the charger every few days but I have found it charges so fast that I dont even need to throw it on that much. Mocha wears this collar pretty much all day when my wife and or I are home. If your serious about your dog training, this is worth every single penny! The collar band is decent, but kind of a pain, I have never been a fan of the belt style collars for dogs, I like metal snap buckles or cobra buckles. So I upgraded the collar to a k9tactical E collar which was only $25 and it has a cobra buckle simple easy on and off. I love this E collar even more because of it! Turning the collar on and off is actually pretty neat, it uses a magnetic part on the remote which is a little red cirlce then you touch the remotes little red dot to a little red dot on the collars receiver thus turning the receiver on. The remote turns on and off buy a button easy peasy. The other buttons are extremely intuitive, one side is one button which is the vibrate and the other side is 2 buttons which you know are the shock buttons when using the remote meaning you don't need to look at the remote when you use it. Update as of 8/3/2020: Collar and remote are still going strong. The antenna has a couple chips of plastic missing but we also abuse this remote/ collar. It goes on hikes, swimming in lakes, rolling in the grass in the snow in all weather conditions whatever mocha throws at it lol still couldn’t recommend it enough! The only thing I wish it had was some sort of battery level indicator for the remote and collar but otherwise it’s still running great!
Review: This collar is a great tool and communication device - blown away! ..AND great customer service! - UPDATE May 26, 2016. After having this collar for a year now we still love it. We use it every day, and it has been a real champ. We had our first issue this week; the collar was responding to the controller intermittently. We thought it was a battery the first couple times we noticed it, but the battery was charged, and the LEDs were lighting up as expected when the buttons were pressed. After fooling around with it, I realized it would work sometimes and not others, depending on the orientation of the collar. It seems there is a loose wire in it somewhere. I called E-Collar Technologies - their phone number is on the back of the handset, and told them what was up. They offered to replace it - I have to send back the original so they can inspect it and see what happened. What great customer service! I was prepared to pay to have it repaired, and was blown away by how nice the person on the phone was. That makes me even more happy about using these training collars, knowing the manufacturer stands behind them! (Our other collar, purchased from a professional dog trainer is still going strong!) Thank you, E-Collar Technologies! I have been using the Educator collar for a couple of weeks now. We have two of them for our two dogs. I have tried another brand of training collar - a more basic, bargain priced unit, and this Educator blows that one away. It has been wonderful to work with my dogs using this collar. Our first Educator came as a part of some professional dog training we are doing for our GSD in Savannah, GA. They use these collars and taught us how to use them effectively. Things went so well with this collar that we bought another one from desertcart for our other dog, a lab mix. What I really like about these collars is the adjustable levels. The stimulus ranges from 0-100, plus it has a "tap" button that is just a small vibrate function. The other collar we had only had three levels on the remote - vibrate, low, and high. Low was too much and it really bothered our dog. With this system, you only use as much stimulus as is required to communicate with your dog. It doesn't hurt - I have zapped myself with it in my hand at around level 15. It's a tingling sensation that absolutely gets my attention, but it doesn't hurt, per se. We live at the beach and like to take our dogs on the beach. Being able to recall them over long distances is a great bonus for these collars. We just like to have our dogs off the leash whenever we can - they much prefer that to being on the end of a leash. To do that, they have to be well trained in order to keep them safe. The red emergency button is nice too, because if the dog really does something that might endanger it, you can get its attention and get it back to you safely. Our trainer and the folks that recommended him to us told us that the training process would really increase the bond with our dog, and they were right. It has been great. In just a couple of weeks, there is an amazing increase in the dog's attentiveness, tail wagging, and affection. It has NOT scared our dog or made the dog afraid of us at all. Both our dogs love to go out and practice their training, especially the GSD. The collar that comes with this is nice and shouldn't get really stinky like some other kinds of leashes. The collar must be tight on the neck to work properly, although we take it off every night and when we're away from the house for any period of time. We also switch sides of the neck to keep from creating skin irritation. The collar is very well made, and we're told it's water-proof. We haven't had either one submerged in a pool or the ocean yet, but they are warrantied if something goes wrong. The collar is VERY long, so once you fit it to your dog you have to trim it shorter with a pair of scissors. The handset is very comfortable for me and my wife although I have an easier time with it than she does because I have bigger hands. If you don't need the distance, the 1/2 mile version has a smaller handset. It is comfortable feel and easy to hold on to. We have practiced using it one-handed, and within a few days it is easy to dial up and down as needed and reach the buttons. The collar and the hand set get charged every night, and it comes with an A/C wall adapter. Both units have receptacle covers when not being charged. The magnetic on and off switch for the collar is nice - when you put the collar on in the morning you have to match up the dot on the hand set with the dot on the collar. It prevents the dog from accidentally turning it off. (Incidentally, the other brand we used had a push power button on the collar, and a couple of times the dog somehow turned it off!) One feature I thought was a little silly at first is that the collar has white LED's on it which can be set to blink or stay on solid - controlled by the hand set. As it turns out, however, with the darkness and long shadows in our back yard, it is nice to turn on the lights on the collars at night and generally see where the dogs are. Depending on what they are doing with their heads, particularly the GSD with her long hair, you can't always see it, but when they are walking around you can generally see it. Now I like that feature and use it every night. My wife likes the lanyard these come with, although I don't care to wear these things around my neck. I just put it in my pocket or keep it nearby. When I'm training I think the lanyard gets in the way. All in all, we love these collars and the freedom they are giving us to keep our dogs safe and well behaved, especially when off the leash. I was worried that this would feel like hurting the dog, but that hasn't been our experience. Our dogs seem eager to get their collars on in the morning and love to work with them. With proper training (which is why we're using a professional trainer) we really aren't using high level stimulus much at all (except when a dog tries to dart away or something). I highly recommend this collar. If you want great training, look for Off-Leash K-9 training in your area. The GSD rescue we used to adopt our dog recommended them for GSDs because they love to "work". We are very pleased with the whole experience.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When used properly as a training tool, can you eventually get to the point where the dog no longer needs to wear the collar?**
A: Another really important thing to do with this collar is make sure the dog does NOT equate this collar with the stimulation. It is suggested to put it on in the morning and take it off before bed, not just put it on before/after walk or events with them especially when first training them with it. When I was training my dog I had a specific whistle which gave him about 3 seconds to respond before the vibration went off. Now when I make that sound he responds immediately without the need to send a signal. My hope is that in his head I was warning him of the sensation prior to it happening, not the one causing it. I still use his collar after a year but have only used the vibration a handful of times this last year—depending on the dog and trainer the collar might only need to be used temporarily.

**Q: guys.. Im really keen to buy this product but I wanted to know if this can be used for a Golden Retriever dog (85lb)...**
A: Yes, although described as a "mini" this e-collar will work for most dogs if used correctly. You might need to shave a small patch for the collar to make contact. If you haven't done so, please watch the leerburg videos on using the e-collar, particularly the one by Micheal Ellis. The dog needs to learn behavior that stops the stimulation. If introduced correctly, i.e., the dog learns that he has control of the stimulation, the e-collar works for most dogs. I have used this collar on several large dogs including several Golden Retrievers and Labradors with success.Peace and Be WellJack

**Q: Will the ET-302TS work well for bigger dogs around 50-60 pounds?**
A: Yes! My dog is around 25 lbs and I cut about 10 inches off of the adjustable collar-almost enough to make another collar. I have only had to use the correction levels up to 26, so there are plenty of levels higher for those bigger or more stubborn dogs. I've been working with a dog trainer to help me give the correction at the right time and used a leash for the first 3 weeks. Using the leash helped me guide my dog into the preferred behavior immediately after the correction so she was not confused as to why she was just corrected. It has completely transformed my dog's behavior and I'm very pleased with the product. If this is your fist electronic collar please make sure you get some tips or work with a trainer. If you do not guide your dog into the behavior you want you will get a very anxious dog afraid to move or do anything. That was my only complaint with this product-in needed some tips for newbies like me. You will love your "new" dog!

**Q: Does this system allow you to vibrate or shock both dogs at the same time?**
A: This is not a shock collar. This collar is actually shock resistant. It is similar to a TENS unit to where it creates basically a muscle spasm. No reputable trainer will recommend a shock collar, as they are painful for dogs.

Immediately out of the package and onto my puppy, this product is working wonders. Today is day 1 of using this and she went from a dog that didn’t listen to anyone outside into a dog that obeyed. I followed the suggestion to see what level was “baseline”. When inside, our pup will listen at a level 3, I can start to feel a slight sensation on my hand at a level 7, and when outside she needs a level 6. But, I’m telling you, she responds every single time to each command. You can tell that level 6 bothers her but I was pressing on the prongs firmly and could not feel a thing a that level so it makes me feel comfortable using it on her. We had it on her for a little over two hours total today (not utilizing the sensation that whole time) but allowing her to acclimate to it and not associate the collar with the sensation. At the end of that time, the hand control needed a charge. Her collar was fine and didn’t require a charge but the dual charging cable was nice to have. I’ll report back with updates but I can already tell a HUGE difference in my dog and we just started testing it out
