These worked perfectly!
The media could not be loaded. These worked immediately. I did add some sparkly Mylar fringe that I think might add to the the effectiveness. No more woodpeckers on the gutter downspouts! We also made sure they were attached securely with zip ties so they could not slide. I hope they last the season, they were pretty good quality and design for the price and easy to assemble. They move very well even in a light breeze and the reflection seems to disturb the woodpeckers as much as the movement.

They Actually Work!
For years now, I've been waging war on birds in my backyard, particularly dove. Yes, I know what you're probably thinking "why dove, how can the universal symbol of peace cause such hostility?" Well, I'll tell you why. Every Spring time, we get our fair share of pigeons, grackle, killdees, martins, hawks, sparrows, etc. Along with those birds, we have dove. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, all the other birds never seem to stick around to build their nests in preparation of the soon to arrive newborns. Thank Goodness, Right? Yes! I'm beyond thankful that those birds decide to take up residency somewhere else, no problem. I don't know what it is about my backyard that makes it such a dove magnet. I truly wouldn't mind if they made their home in my backyard but the places they choose to build their nests are not the best places at all. The two main locations are right under the eve of my patio roof. I'm talking, right on top of the mounted speaker and the other location is on top of the outdoor roller shade that's mounted on the outside wall of the kitchen, right over the place where the bar is and where people sit. This might seem like prime real estate for the dove but I'm the one paying the mortgage here and I get the final say! They're like bad relatives that you're really okay if you only see at funerals and weddings. They are beyond messy with the poop and nest materials that are constantly falling on the surfaces where I serve food. Not to mention the occasional egg that falls and cracks or the baby that jumped too soon... I've actually shed lots of tears in these times. The emotional roller coaster that these dove have put me through is too much. I've witnessed "flight day" where both mom & dad teach their young how to fly. It's pretty awesome to witness. So, this proves that I do have a heart, somewhere in this body. I digress, I'm sorry... Okay, back to the review. Over the years, I've purchased the following items to deter the dove, which all ended with failed results: scary rubber snake (scared me more than the birds), big plastic owl (one dove would actually sit on it's head), super sonic sound emitter that was motion detected (it repelled my husband and I more than the birds. Ear piercing is an understatement), long, metal spikey strips (which the dove used to help secure their nests even better to the above said locations) & the famous flashy, reflective tape that made my backyard look more like a 24/7 disco party. I kinda liked the look for a hot minute but then, not so much...Then, (drum roll please) I found these little reflective discs with christmas ornament type hooks. This to me was a much better choice than the reflective tape simply because of the hook and the extra weight they have, verses the tape that is, by the way, now wrapped around the rafters of my pergola due to the wind.Yes as others have mentioned, there's some assembly involved. Not a problem. Put on a favorite TV show, some good music or an Audible book and zone out. It's mindless work that will have you putting these together like a pro in no time at all. Hey, I'd rather do the work myself rather than pay more $$$ for someone else to do it. I bought my first set of these discs last year. So far, the dove have only come as far as the fence line and that's about it. My husband found remnants of a nest that was in the beginning stages but was abandoned, Thank God! So all in all, I am dove free! Hallelujah!

Works!!
We originally seen these at a boat dock and thought they would be perfect for our carport. They are so cute and shiny but not to girly (says the husband). They are very sturdy and light weight. They have held up nicely in the wind and helped keep the birds at a minimum. We have some birds but it cut it down 80%.

Does not work with wild turkeys after a couple weeks
Please note, the one star is not for any defect in the product. It's simply is not an effective device for keeping the wild turkeys off my patio. It worked for about 2 weeks until they got accustomed to the shiny objects. Now they've made themselves at home again. So in my situation this was not effective. This is one of the commonly used devices to keep birds away and so many companies produce similar products. In my situation, it simply wasn't effective. Oh well.

So far so bad.
First, it's look good and I think effective. Later no more scared to pigeons. I used for roofing bird repellent.

Finally Something to Keep Woodpeckers off the House
I have a cedar siding house in Virginia and every year I would have to have woodpecker holes repaired. Every Single Year!! I put these up on a shepherd hooks on either side of my house where the woodpeckers would do their worst. I have not had a single even tiny hole in my siding in two years since I put these up. I also have wind chimes on one side of the deck. Either way no more pecking on the house and me hitting the side of the house and yelling to get them away. They still look fine after two years but from the way they look right now I doubt they will be functional after three years. The finish is started to crackle some. Hope this helps!

Extremely effective
While some other options were very pretty, this is actually effective in keeping birds at bay. However, if the birds really want to get on your balcony they will find a way - like the mated pair on ours - but it's keeping several other birds away, or at least since I put it up it seems to have worked in conjunction with reflective tape. These discs really reflect light, even on cloudy days, and even at night if light is coming from inside your house. Recommended.
