Can it mount an external drive?

I don't think that would be a good idea. Just use a really large GB Micro SD card. The data transfer port uses a USBC connection. You'd have to use an OTG adapter, and that connection would be pretty flimsy. There's also the possibility that you can break the port by having too much weight on it. I bought a 256 GB card and it holds more games than I could ever play in a lifetime. All the Final Fantasy, GTA, Oddworld, PSP, and other large games fit just fine without any external devices. Just follow the YouTube tutorials if you want to learn more.

I just need to play super mario world and mario kart, is this the best device for it ? do elaborate.

If it's the n64 Mario cart, sure it does play 1st Gen 3d games pretty well, but ps2, GameCube, and Xbox games you might want to wait for the retroid v2 layer this year
