Designed for professional artists and hobbyists alike, it supports a wide range of media including oils, acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media, delivering vibrant colors and flawless detail without the texture of traditional canvas. Ready to paint straight out of the package, it offers a durable, gallery-ready alternative ideal for fine art, acrylic pours, and mixed-media projects. ## Description Ampersand Art Supply’s Primed Smooth Artist Panel is a professional, ready-to-paint acid-free gesso board designed for oil, acrylic, pouring, and mixed media. This painting surface features an ultra-smooth acrylic gesso that requires no sealing or preparation—giving artists a flawless ground for crisp brushwork, ultra-fine detail, portrait painting, plein air work, and the cleanest wipes. Because the rigid panel reflects light rather than absorbing it (like canvas or paper), colors appear brighter, more vivid, and more defined. The smooth, uniform surface supports a wide range of media, including acrylics, oils, gouache, casein, alcohol inks, graphite, airbrush, collage, image transfers, and photo mounting. Painters appreciate how evenly paint glides across the surface, while acrylic pour artists favor it for clean leveling without canvas texture interrupting the pour. Primed Smooth also serves as a versatile craft surface and wood canvas alternative for art classes, workshops, hobby painting, and studio use. Built with a durable, warp-resistant MDF (medium-density fiberboard) core, this painting board stays flat under heavy paint application, palette-knife work, and mixed-media layering. It offers a long-lasting alternative to stretched canvas, canvas boards, unprimed wood panels, and unfinished craft boards—ideal for artists who want a stable, rigid painting surface without texture, weave, or sagging. Primed Smooth is available in sizes from 4x4 through 18x24 and in multiple profiles, including 1/8"" flat, 3/8"" flat, 7/8"" cradled, and 1½"" cradled. The 3/8"" flat panel and all cradled profiles feature fully primed edges for wrapping artwork around the sides, while the 3/8"" flat format includes a built-in keyhole hanger for ready-to-display mounting. Cradled panels use solid wood pine supports for strength and a contemporary presentation. Whether you're creating fine art, acrylic pours, portraits, landscapes, or mixed-media work, Primed Smooth delivers consistent performance and a smooth gesso surface trusted by artists, educators, and hobbyists. It’s a dependable painting panel and canvas alternative suited for every studio, classroom, and art supply kit. ## Features - Fully primed on top and sides with super smooth acrylic gesso - Semi-absorbent acid-free ground accepts watercolor- acrylic - oil - pencil - Durable medium-density fiberboard support ideal for pallete knife painting - Ready to paint and perfect for fine detail and smooth fluid lines - 11 x 14 inches - 1.5 inch depth ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00917DORO | | Best Sellers Rank | #10,055 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ( See Top 100 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ) #3 in Gessoboard | | Brand | Ampersand Art Supply | | Brand Name | Ampersand Art Supply | | Color | 1.5 Inch Depth | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 out of 5 stars 713 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00707310795113 | | Included Components | one painting panel | | Item Dimensions L x W | 14"L x 11"W | | Item Type Name | Primed Smooth | | Item Weight | 1.5 pounds | | Manufacturer | Ampersand Art Supply | | Manufacturer Part Number | PWP151114 | | Material | Wood, Acrylic Gesso | | Material Type | Wood, Acrylic Gesso | | Model Number | PWP151114 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Paint Type | Acrylic | | Product Dimensions | 14"L x 11"W | | Shape | cradled | | Size | 11X14 | | UPC | 707310795113 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | Contact manufacturer for warranty information | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Ampersand Art Supply - **Color:** 1-1/2" Cradled Profile - **Material:** Wood - **Item Weight:** 1.45 Pounds - **Product Dimensions:** 14"L x 11"W ## Images ![Ampersand Artist Panel Primed Smooth Surface for Painting and Mixed-Media, 1.5 Inch Depth, 11X14 Inch (PWP151114) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71mOP4QAQjL.jpg) ![Ampersand Artist Panel Primed Smooth Surface for Painting and Mixed-Media, 1.5 Inch Depth, 11X14 Inch (PWP151114) - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81PkEw6Fz-L.jpg) ![Ampersand Artist Panel Primed Smooth Surface for Painting and Mixed-Media, 1.5 Inch Depth, 11X14 Inch (PWP151114) - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71grXCV4XNL.jpg) ![Ampersand Artist Panel Primed Smooth Surface for Painting and Mixed-Media, 1.5 Inch Depth, 11X14 Inch (PWP151114) - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81NjdutXtgL.jpg) ![Ampersand Artist Panel Primed Smooth Surface for Painting and Mixed-Media, 1.5 Inch Depth, 11X14 Inch (PWP151114) - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91RmSvN7LYL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Frequently Bought Together - Ampersand Art Supply Wood Gesso Artist Painting Panel: Primed Smooth, 11" x 14", 1-1/2" Cradled Profile - Ampersand Art Supply Wood Painting Panel: Museum Series Claybord, 16" x 20", 1/8" Flat Profile - Ampersand Art Supply Gesso Wood Painting Panel: Museum Series Gessobord, 16" x 20", 3/4" Cradled Profile --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/38436867-ampersand-artist-panel-primed-smooth-surface-for-painting-and-mixed](https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/38436867-ampersand-artist-panel-primed-smooth-surface-for-painting-and-mixed) --- *Product available on Desertcart Panama* *Store origin: PA* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
