Surface must be dry and free of old finishes in poor condition, paint, wax, grease, polish, dirt or other foreign matter.2. Sand to obtain a smooth, uniform surface. Do not use steel wool. Remove all sanding dust. Thoroughly wipe clean with a damp cloth. Allow to dry completely.3. If desired, apply Minwax stain to unfinished wood surfaces. Follow directions for application and dry times. Wait 8 hours after staining, before applying Oil-Modified Polyurethane.4. This pase weekend it was in the teens outside, but with the low VOC of this product, I was able to continue working by moving inside. Virtually no smell. Dries quickly, very easy to apply - no streaks or brush marks. I thought it would take 2 gallons to do all the flooring, but based on our first batch of planks, I think I might be able to do the whole thing with a singe gallon. That is with 3 coats. MinWax is my go-to manufacturer for all staining products. This is a new favorite product! It gives a great finish to my projects, it seals exactly as stated, great value for the money, I could have used a smaller size, but now have extra on hand so that isn't an issue. It goes on very well and gives an excellent finished product. I'd highly recommend this product. I couldn't get it locally so was happy to find it on Amazon!
