I just washed thoroughly before using for my sulcata tortoise. It is a good feeding platform because the surface is textured and it helps keep the tortoise's beak trimmed. **Q: Will this get hot under the heat lamps?** A: It actually gets really hot. I would not recommend putting it under the heat lamp.
