Doc Martin: Series 4

Pleasant Entertainment, good acting, great scripts.
I have enjoyed watching this on PBS channels and had thought about buying it, but then thought about all the other DVD's I had spent good money on that just collected dust. But this hasn't been a dust collector. I got all the series to date and it is enjoyable to watch if you want to relax or eat with company. The show itself took awhile to gain popularity but once it did everyone seemed to have started watching it. It is timeless yet set in the current period. The acting is excellent, the story lines are funny, touching and well thought out. Individual episodes stand alone very well. It is set in a calming place with great photography of the area. It you are used to all the fast moving plot lines and lots of noise, this isn't for you (unless you want a pleasant change of pace). But I enjoy it and it has regulars from teens to the elderly. Try it on your PBS channel and you will be hooked and want to see what went on before as I did.

Ex surgeon who develops blood phobia takes job as small town GP
this British series is a delightful surprise of comedy and personal angst. doc Martin is your atypical surgeon turned small town gp who has no bedside manor. still you have hope that he will embrace his emotional side but are disappointed for the most part, with certain surprise moments keeping you hoping for the best. his eulogy of his beloved aunt is stunning.

Doc Martin
This is such a great show..It is British in style, set in a beautiful location. All the actors live in the village while filming and the same actors and actresses return for each episode. It is most real life in the love story line. The grumpy, very grumpy doctor..is the smash of the story...the show, in my opinion, is well written and each part has been well thought out. Details have been attended and in all makes this a very lovely show. I can't wait for the next season to begin. I have purchased several of the Seasons of this show and watch it on YouTube frequently. I never tire of watching each episode over and over. The theme music is incredible as well. This show is on PBS... I recommend this show to adults. It is well worth the purchase. I believe this was a fantastic purchase and I am so glad that it is available from Amazon.

Doc Martin quirky yet interesting.
I thoroughly enjoy this show. Dr. Martin is portrayed to have remarkable medical knowledge but yet very quirky social skills. I am intrigued to observe how he will react in given social situations. I do not like how children and teens are SO disrespectful and rude in the show and YET are never reprimanded.

Another show that I love..
Another show that I love...even the opening music makes me smile. Saw another post saying the same thing!I hear rumors of an American version. Impossible to reproduce.Give up now. If only they would produce a few more seasons of the real thing or maybe a movie ...instead of destroying it with an American copy. Impossible without Martin Clunes and Caroline Catz.

Starting to Get Stale
I was hooked through the first 3 seasons - the stories were engaging and the ongoing slow moving romance was generally credible. However this 4th season is dragging a bit. Doc's deepening antisocial behavior including dog kicking is getting a bit stale along with continual miscommunication with the teacher. I'm hoping the next season will introduce some new creative approaches to the characters and the stories.

... watch Doc Martin over again goes to emphasize the enjoyment I get from this show
To say that I watch Doc Martin over again goes to emphasize the enjoyment I get from this show. It is clean, it is laugh out loud funny, and I never tire of watching each member of the ensemble cast. They are all good actors, and they all pull their weight. I highly recommend Doc Martin, any season, and I've watched them all.

keeping up standards
At series four, you might expect an idea and a cast to start to loose pulse, but this is not the case with Doc Martin and Co. As it happens, Martin Clunes' character is not the strength of this outing - the writers have confused social ineptness with aggressive rudeness, and he becomes less funny or sympathetic as a result. But, nevertheless, this series works well because the supporting cast are so grounded in their characters - and apparently so happy playing them. The production rips along. The eight-episode series operates in a defined time frame of four months, and the increased continuity between episodes enhances the interest. The introduction of Lia Williams to the cast is a stroke of genius. Her character is a nice foil to Martin and her performance is terrific. Those who found the final episode of series 3 a tad perverse will be favourably impressed with the culmination of this series. But what does it say about the possibility of a fifth series?

What's up Doc?
Martin Clunes and others continue at their very best. The whole series is easy watching, humorous, cringe-making at times, but overall hugely entertaining. We have had the pleasure to visit this location ourselves and it is a truly beautiful part of the country and this series continues to do it justice.MC is the Doctor behaving badly who seems to have gone through a character bypass in his past and he is very ably supported by a professional cast (and i believe a number locals) who really manage to bring this beautiful fishing village alive. The story develops the ongoing roller-coast relationship between Doc Martin and Louise who still has, it seems, a few surprises in her!I strongly recommend this series, as i would the others. It is one you will be happy to watch over and over again.

Comic Relief
There is something compelling about atrocious rudeness that appeals to the British sense of humour. Martin Clunes has mastered this art to perfection in the character of Doc Martin. This fourth series did not disappoint and the simple story lines remained true to its predecessors. As Doc Martin administers to his patients without patience, blithely unaware of his offensive manner, one can not help sympathising with him and secretly desiring to have the fortitude to behave in a similar manner. Throughout, all the acting is brilliant, the timing painfully spot-on and the cringe worthy scenarios a tribute to the series' writers. We need more of the same. This is TV comedy at its best.

Doc Martin
My mother in law bought me the first two series as a Christmas present and was disappointed when I didn't rave about them. That was before I'd watched any of the shows. If you like good clean comedy then this is hilarious and series 4 is just as good as the other three. Martin Clunes plays a GP in Cornwall with a serious personality problem and a phobia of blood. He is rude and bad tempered but in such a funny way that you forget his bad manners and laugh at the comedian the actor is. There is a great cast of supporting actors and a series of guest appearances each show. The scenery in and around Port Isaac is stunning. I would highly recommend the DVD.
