Our last cases died after many year's of use and I wanted to spend some money on a good quality suitcase that didn't break the bank. After much research I settled on Travelpro and I haven't been disappointed. These cases are very good quality and as they are a touch bigger than our previous 55cm bags they seem to hold enormous quantities of stuff. We travelled to Australia and these cases were a pleasure to use. The wheels were smooth and the cases are well balanced even when fully loaded. We've only done this one trip with them but it was a long one and they've come back without damage other than the usual scuffs you would expect from luggage being moved around.

CONTEXT: travel primarily by train and automobile, rarely check luggage, really bad packers who tend to overpack! Have tried to use Ultra Luxury brands (LV and Moore & Giles - considered an M&G @ $2K) as well as an older TUMI 21” w/ solid rear rollers. All aesthetically beautiful and some status pieces but get abused even when careful and often fell short of our needs. So, I took a chance on the Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside Checked Bag. PROS: great price point, super lite, spacious, excellent build quality, excellent zippers, simple(not over-engineered) design cues, glides effortlessly, durable materials and pairs perfectly w/ Travelpro Maxlite Travel Laptop Backpack, Black, 18-Inch. CONS: would have purchased a different color if a coordinating bag was available, understated status for those who care. VERDICT: how will these hold up? I’ll let you know but in the meantime looking forward to under-packing 😀 in this simple bag and the coordinating backpack. Highly recommend @ $200 price point. Hope this review was helpful/useful.
