MFC-J5330DW All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Wireless Connectivity, Automatic Duplex Printing, Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready

This printer was a replacement for my old HP printer that still worked, but the ink was expensive. I wanted this printer because of the separate ink cartridges and the auto-duplex printing. I had some trouble figuring out how to print on small format paper. The smallest size it will accept is 3.5 x 5 inches. This must be fed through the tray in the back one piece at a time. I had to reformat some of my documents to fit that paper size. The HP would accept small paper as long as the document would fit on it; this one won't. The paper size of the document must match. But there's a catch: when printing small documents such as cards, don't change the paper size in the print dialogue box; change the paper size in the document only. Leave the paper size set to Letter in the printer properties box unless you are printing on Legal size or larger. Also, when printing multiple page documents through the rear tray (such as greeting cards), I would separate the document into single pages and print them one page at a time. I eventually discovered that I could print multi-page documents through the rear tray, but there's a trick: Put the first page in the rear tray, then print the entire document. When the first page comes out, wait until the printer prompts you to insert the next page. Put the next page in, then press OK. It's slow, but it's better than separating the document into single pages and printing them one at a time. Apparently, when the first page of a multi-page document is placed in the rear tray, the printer expects the rest of the pages to be in the rear tray also. I could not find this explained anywhere and only discovered it by accident. If I print #10 envelopes in the rear tray, the printing exits left edge down. But if I print smaller #6 envelopes or single cheques, the printing exits right edge down. If the orientation matters, cut practise sheets to size and try them. The auto duplexer works only for letter (A4) size paper. Letter paper must be fed sideways in the printer--even in the rear tray. The printer will not make double-sided copies from the auto scanner. You have to scan one side, then turn the pages over and restack them. However, if you scan the pages manually, it will print on both sides. It will make multiple copies from the scanner. The paper output tray is too small. If I send a job to the printer from another room and I am not in the room with the printer to catch the paper, it will often throw the paper on the floor. If you put overfill the feeder tray, it will misfeed. The printer uses some ink not printing. Occasionally it will start up by itself, sip a little ink, then shut down. This is normal, because it has to run a little ink through the print head now and then to keep it from clogging up. The print head is not normally replaced when you replace the ink. Oddly, it seems to use the magenta ink faster than the others. In spite of all the quirks, I like this printer and recommend it. it prints fast, and the print quality is very good.

I normally have two printers because I am a business owner. My 12 years old HP D7160 printer and my 5 years old Epson WF3640 died at the same time. My first replacement was the Brother HLL2395 monochrome laser to reduce my printer cost. I liked HP printers but HP recently redesigned their printers to reject all non-HP ink cartridges so HP printers would have increased my printing cost. Disappointed with Epson because this printer started going bad after 3 years and died 2 years later. This also happened to a Canon printer. I needed a color inkjet to compliment the Brother laser black monochrome printer so I decided on this one. I am impressed with the quality and speed of this brother color all-in-one. I got a 4 year warranty because inkjets tend to clog and inkjets tend to be less reliable than laser printers that uses black toner cartridges. This color all-in-one compliments my black and white printer perfectly because I only need color 10% of the time which will reduce my overall printing cost. I really like that it only takes about 4 seconds to start printing from the moment I click print on my PC. The quality and printing speed matches my laser printer. Both brother printers are the two best printers I ever had as far as speed and quality so my only issue is long term reliability. I am still concerned about cloggimg with inkjet printers and the high cost of inkjet cartridges. However, my 4 years warranty protects me from premature clogging problems and my brother laser printer should reduce my printing cost. Buyers should be aware that ink jet cartridge replacement costs over the years can exceed the price of the original printer by a factor of 3 or even 4 so it makes more sense to me to buy two printers for high volume printing. Both printers were under $200 each so I really happy with this all-in-one color printer. I recommend this color all-in-one as long as you can deal with the inherent high cost of ink and the inherent lower reliability of inkjets due to clogging.

This is the BEST printer ever. I've owned my share of doozies but this guy, he's my best friend and the partner I never knew I was missing in my life. I'm a special needs mom and my kids just started Kindergarten. I got this because I needed to scan school work to make copies, send doctors notes to schools and referrals that were missplaced to other doctors. Plus I'm also a working Mom who has a professional career and I don't have time to go somewhere else to get documents printed/scanned/sent around the world. I have little free time and this lovely machine doesn't waste any of it. Setup is insanely easy. I was prepared for a fight and missing drivers but it was plug and play. I have a Google Pixel phone, an HP chromebook and a desktop PC running Windows 10 and installation with the app on my phone, cloud print for my laptop and the print installer on Windows all went perfectly. NEVER (and I mean NEVER) in my life have I ever had a printer that's installed this easy. I've had HPs and Cannons and whatever else there is out there, but this... was a breeze. No stress, no cussing, just deliverability of amazing results. I haven't been let down by this thing yet. I was holding out for over a year for the perfect printer and this baby is it. I've always gotten the shaft compatibility wise because I have a Google phone and those weren't as popular as iPhones and Chromebooks are just now getting popular with techies and students, so I could find printers that looked worthy but they always fell short with compatibly with my existing systems. Did I also mention that I can scan documents to my google drive account? Seriously. SEAMLESS. Round of applause for you Brother, You have impressed me every time I print something. OH.... I also have the auto refill thing for my cartridges because I'm an Amazon prime geek and I suck majorly at going to big box stores to buy anything (special needs mom problem) the convenience of this is worth it. If you are busy and don't have time to drive around and find ink (our target and walmart don't carry ink for this printer) set it and forget it. The end. I love you MFC-J53300DW you're everything I needed, and more.

I've had this printer for quite a while now and still love it. Getting ink for cartridge replacement is somewhat of a problem....as this is an older printer, I suspect stores are stocking less of it or not at all. When I do find ink I usually pay more than normally expected. Printer works well though and I'll be sad when it's time to replace.

I've had my new MFCJ5330DW printer for about 2 weeks now, and so far I'm loving it! I replaced an HP Deskjet 6700 which had all the same functions, but was a terrible printer. The brother is probably 10-20% larger than the all-in-one it's replacing, but not overly large. This printer is very solid and high quality. From the minute you take it out of the box, you find that there aren't little pieces of tape holding it all together and secure. The printer is packed extremely smartly, and you can get up and running very quickly. This printer is also extrememly quiet. I'm used to the old 6700 whirring and spinning for 5+ minutes before ever spitting out a page. The MFCJ5330DW goes from powered off, to ready-to-print in about 10 seconds with hardly any noise, except for the very pleasant startup chimes. The menu system seems clean and organized and the buttons feel solid. I really like the way the printer prints landscape instead of portrait. I have not seen that before in a printer. That means the pages print faster because it only has to feed a typical 8" width, instead of an 11" length. Very cool. That also means you can print up to A3 (11x17) sized pages with it. Double-siding printing is fast and effortless, I think because the duplexer might be built into the back. The table-stakes of printing are in the ink. Having 4 separate color cartridges makes it more cost effective because you only replace the color you run out of. My printer gets light-to-medium duty (3 students) so I'm not sure yet how long the colors will last. I'm still on the initial inks. I have had a Brother LaserJet HL-5370DW for more than a decade, and it's still doing well. I'm glad I decided to go with this color all-in-one to replace the old 6700 when it self-destructed. I would highly recommend this printer!

This printer takes 15-20 minutes to print a large document & wastes 2-3 times the amount of paper & ink needed. It prints partial pages over & over before printing the correct, full page. Brother support took 3 hours to determine that it's because the computer is too far from the router. They suggested running a cord from the router to the printer. Although I don't qualify that as a wireless print, she insisted (not very nicely) that it does because I can still print digitally from multiple devices. I had a competitor's product in the same place with the same router & setup for 5 years that printed a great quality print. The technician alleged that you can't compare the 2 products because they are 2 different printers. I disagree. This will be the last Brother product I buy. Amazon Services was incredibly helpful in trying to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, they are not the manufacturers so are only able to help so much but they did try their best.

I LOVE this printer. The wireless ALWAYS works for me. Wakes up whenever I need it. Some people in reviews on here having problems with it falling asleep and not waking up and then not connecting to print wirelessly… I have never had this problem. I know it does things I haven’t learned how to do yet too which is exciting. Can’t wait to learn to print without margins!!!! 😊 The quality has been great too Either people have something wrong with their setup or unfortunately maybe a faulty printer. However, I love mine!

If you're planning on printing in black and white, it's a GREAT printer. It's fast and the quality is good. However, for color printing, it's not that great. I bought it mainly to print planner stickers, and the colors were faded and not vibrant at all. The darker colors would smudge on glossy paper. I tried both glossy and matte paper, and the quality just wasn't there. Not to mention that the ink ran out waaaay faster than expected. I printed less than 50 pages of color before the ink started running out. I decided not to buy more ink, and instead went and bought a much cheaper hp printer with instaink. The quality is better in color, the ink lasts longer and it's much cheaper.

I'm extremely happy with this wireless printer. It was delivered promptly, and I was able to use it pretty much out of the box. Setting it up to "talk" to my personal router/modem was simple, and my computer was able to print to it even before the Brother drivers were loaded. The drivers are, however, required for scanning and faxing. Printing is fast, and while not the same quality as a laser printer, is good enough for most purposes. Scanning resolution is decent--not as good as a larger, more expensive, system, or a dedicated flatbed scanner, but for my purposes it's good enough. For overall usability and ease of setup, this is a good choice for a home printer.

Very Pleased with printer. Very easy to set up and connect with laptop. Good clear printing.

Great machine overall, colors are crisp and of great photo quality. I find that the paper feed needs to be carefully aligned, as I've had a crooked document saved quite a few times. I have been using the flatbed for single sheet feed scans.

Awesome printer, and fast! Duplexes fast too. Highly recommend it!

Bought it in August. Worked great until it just didn’t 6 months later. Cleaning does nothing, we have done about 6 cycles with no improvement, the printing quality is awful, this practically new printer unusable. Update: Brother support was awesome, sent us a replacement and everything. Now 2 months later the replacement has the exact same issue.
