Joni’s testimony is powerful
One scene that really stood out to me: 1:38:22She says that she’d rather be in “this chair” (wheelchair) knowing Him (Jesus) than be on her feet without Him.To watch Joni go from depressed and headstrong teenager to a woman whose heart becomes joyful in the Lord, is incredible. To see her at the end, talking about how Jesus helped her in her suffering in front of a huge crowd and Billy Graham…to her rolling through the countryside, singing with beautiful abandon about Jesus….is just something that I can’t describe. It’s just so powerful.Praise the Lord for her testimony which continues to be strong decades later!

Super good
Such a good and encouraging video. It's also great to watch Joni's story, I never knew she was such a good artist. I imagine the book is far better, but it is a really well done movie, the backgrounds and nature scenes were also beautiful.

Persevering through pain and hardship.
It is very difficult to watch the pain and sadness, which this young woman endures at the beginning of this true story. She faces further hardships too. There could be a sequel to this movie , as it ends with her about age 30, and a lot more happens in her life; marriage, and cancer, twice. Such beautiful and peaceful drawings and paintings come out of the mind of this woman. It is particularly moving to see her relating to, and encouraging others, who have been seriously injured. Joni's family and friends are remarkable. You cannot be more accurate than to have the real Joni play herself; the rest are actors. The film is shot on location. I watched it in two parts over two days. At 17-years-old, Joni was beautiful, athletic, participating in horseback riding competitions, socially active, talented, and had a good family, when tragedy struck her. Living above her circumstances; she has developed a close relationship with God, and values her relationships with her family and friends. There is a profound statement made in one of the back and forth conversations. Joni struggles to let go of past dreams and move forward into the unknown. Joni might be an encouragement and example to you too.

Great Artist
This was nice to see that Joni had a better attitude or perspective about life because I saw another movie where she was older and it was tough to hear about the amount of frustration she felt I think maybe because this film was when she was younger and then maybe she had to go back to the hospital cause some conditions don't stay stable. The other film had more of the art she did which is very good and on the side of realism the pictures look like actual photos since the animals had details like the fur and hair also the eyes had reflections. One of my friends told me about Joni cause I also do drawings so I was impressed since she used her mouth to control the designs, but my style is slightly different cause I'm more into line work and less shading with shadows I can sort of see how if you have a shaky hand or can't hold it at an angle for longer moments that it stays more steady in the mouth. It's great to accept the presence of God but you also have to put in effort to move your life towards the path you need to take so I think it had a little too much emphasis on the Bible but still not as harsh as the other movies opinions.

Great, marvelous and TRUE
Joni shines in this. She is not the best actress in the world but who said she had to be the best at EVERYTHING! She can do almost everything well and to sing and paint and teach and write and well.....what else did we thing she had to do? She is lovely in this film. Beauty that surpasses all. I loved it, all of it and am taking it to my local library for them to share with anyone who wants to know her better. I just hope it gets a lot of attention there. I would love to keep it but there are too many who need to see this to let it sit on my shelf and collect dust. I have read her Memoirs, Choices Changes and the "Joni" book. I have some devotionals too with her artwork. I think one of the most amazing aspects about her movie was the art show set up by her wonderful Dad and Diane, her best friend. I wish I had had a best friend like Diane who came to her and made her healing more possible and shorter. I credit GOD through Jesus Christ for who this amazing woman has become. She is 62 now being born in 1949. She is also now a cancer survivor and that blows me away! What else should this woman have to go through to please her God? It must have been all the drugs pumped into her for 45 years in that chair. Anyway, she can now be a light to cancer victims. How cool is that....Huh?Get this movie and put it in your library. Watch it twice or three times and let it go. It will do it's heart-work again and again even though it is 30 years old. Just watch it for your own heart too. You will be blessed!

Very encouraging
I just got diagnosed with a debilitating disease (but not fatal) and I have been searching others who have stories like Jonie's. Here in 2022 your story is still very encouraging and I have been watching a lot of your utube videos too. I pray God eases your Chronic pain and it makes me so Happy that someday soon you will be with our Father in Heaven. What a strong, strong courage and strength you have and are allowing God to be for you. I am so weak and having a hard time feeling his strength in me. But because if you, I will fight on!! Melanie
