Easy to use and keeps your action clean while preventing damage to your bore.
While the description of the three models is not particularly clear, I was happy with the descriptions on the Wheeler site. The guides are really well made, with tight dimensions, good features, and an excellent finish. I have two, both for AR platforms, one each .3xx family and .2xx family. The solvent port makes dosing of the patch an easy and clean process, and the fact that they lock into the ejection port cover prevents any unwanted movement during use.

Why Did I not buy this sooner?
I should have purchased this before I ever fired a single round through my AR. I have a bore guide for my bolt gun but after cleaning my AR a couple times without one it became clear that it was time to look around. I bought this wheeler guide over all the other ones based on the reviews and the design of the product. I am happy to say that I am very pleased with this and out of all the stuff you can get for an AR pattern rifle this should be one of the first. It fits snugly into the upper receiver and as designed it locks firmly in place when you close the dust cover on the ejection port. To remove the guide you turn it 90 degrees clockwise to line up a beveled part of the locking ring area that will push open the dust cover when you pull the guide. The quality is much more than you would expect for the price. Where the cleaning rod enters the back of the guide is machined in such a way that it is easy to line the cleaning rod up as it is rounded from the outer edge to the inside edge or the guide hole. The fact that this bore guide is made of metal means that when you insert and retract it you can feel it rubbing against the inner surface of the upper. I can't say I really like that as with repeated use it could cause scratching the surface. A rod made out of some type of harder plastic would be better for this reason. The ID of the guide rod tube is larger than that of a barrel so there is still some potential there for a less than perfect alignment when the rod leaves the guide and enters the barrel. Here I would have preferred that the ID be exactly the same as the barrel ID. Overall I would buy this again in a heartbeat but with the quality I don't think that will ever be an issue. It is MADE IN CHINA and that I do not like. I would rather pay twice as much and have a MADE IN USA on there.

worked well.
Nicely machined aluminum. Fit well. Not a bad price.

Never clean a rifle from the muzzle end!
Never clean a rifle from the muzzle end! I spend a good amount of money when I build a rifle and AR's are no exception. Your gun is only as accurate as the barrel and good barrels usually aren't cheap. It makes sense to protect your investment with a bore guide. I suspect there are many AR's out there that have NEVER been cleaned and those that are "cleaned" are probably not as clean as you think. A properly cleaned rifle is usually an accurate rifle. This bore guide protects the chamber from damage while aligning a cleaning rod to the axis of the bore allowing one to properly clean the gun. Easy to use. Just remove the bolt carrier group and charging handle then insert the bore guide. FYI: This thing looks huge but it completely fills the area normally occupied by the bolt carrier group. Now buy a good quality one piece AR cleaning rod. Three piece rods are not as strong and can damage the bore or break. Next insert your cleaning jags, patches, brushes, bore mops etc into the rear of the bore guide. I remove the cleaning brush before drawing the rod back into the barrel to prevent damage to the crown. There is a solvent port that allows you to add gun cleaner without completely removing the rod. Use a good gun solvent to remove carbon and then a second to remove copper deposits. Now clean that filthy gun until the last patch is comes out white. Finish with an oiled patch.

Fits a .556 perfectly!
Purchased for a .556 and fits perfectly. Very well made. Solid. I like the O rings as it won’t scratch but fits snugly. Worth the money!

It will work mostly.
Like any AR10 there is no mil-spec. But for a regular AR10 this would probably work. I have a PSA Sabor M110 in 6.5 Creedmoor. This fits good enough to guide the cleaning rod. However it does not lock but it's tight enough. To get the job done. It is constructed very well however maybe over time the rubber O-rings may wear down. But that would be a easy fix.

its all a matter of preference and how you like to care for your expensive firearms
This bore guide is a high quality product, it is very solid and well made with a heavy aluminum metal and has 2 o-rings to support it in the receiver and keeps it locked in to keep solvent from running into your receiver. Your guide rod will stay straight through the bore and it will keep you from scratching or damaging your bore from insertion over, over, again with the rod. Some people don't use these, and some people do, its all a matter of preference and how you like to care for your expensive firearms. I'm a gun cleaning fanatic who likes to take very good care of his firearms, so I use products like these that are specifically meant to aid in the proper care of firearms for cleaning purposes to make my life easier when cleaning and to have much better end results when doing deep cleanings of my firearms, with me knowing full and well that I am not doing any damage at all to any part of my bore.
