Miele Compact C1 Pure Suction Bagged Canister Vacuum with High Suction Power Designed for Hard Floors and Low-Pile Carpet, in Lotus White

After reading oh so many reviews I bought the compact C1 Miele cannister to replace the LAST Kenmore I will ever buy. (The last Kenmore cannister died at 9 months of age) I have a LOT of pet hairs, a LOT (100+) potted plants, and a LOT of dirt & dust. We live in the country on a long gravel drive & spend most of our time outside tending growing things. We start & propagate indoors, especially in winter. And we have 7 cats & 1 dog (don't judge...they just show up). Anyway, you get the picture. It's a dirty life and we love it but I don't want my house dirty so I have always had cannisters & make heavy use of the attachments. First, the suction... On day 1 as I was just testing it out I got within an inch of a sock on the bedroom floor & WHOOSH! Before I could blink the sock was in the bag. lol I was quite impressed. And the sock was simple to retrieve. Christmas glitter was gone in one quick pass. If you place the wand on the palm of your hand, the suction is so tight that you can wave it around & it will not fall off. Second, I saw a couple reviewers speaking on the small duster attachment. Yes, there is less brush on it but omg it is so much more effective. Cobwebs near the ceiling are gone without even touching them. It actually sucks the dust up rather than just moving it around. And...it has a very cool feature in that it rotates & turns the brush at a 90 degree angle for dusting bookshelves, tables, celing fan blades or other flat surface. Very clever. Third, the telescoping wand reaches so much farther than any I've ever used. I can reach all the way behind upper kitchen cabinets, even in the corner, where used to I had to get a chair or step ladder. And the wand is so light & ergonomic that my back is not aching when I finish. Fourth, the (non-power) head at first seemed quite toy-like in comparison to the heavy Kenmore power head but after just a couple uses I am in love. It easily twists, contorts, & gets between, under & around most everything. And it picks up crumbs from around baseboards without having to take it off. Fifth, and this is a silly thing that made me excited, but the plastic connectors on the wand are much sleeker & smaller. So therefore I can get deep behind furniture (like dressers) & into other small spaces that had been inaccessible without moving the furniture. Finally, as for the small size & smaller bags...I just now changed the bag after nearly a month & having vacuumed the walls, ceilings, woodwork, fans, and obviously floors many times. The house is 2000 sq ft. I have not been gentle on it as I have sucked up many a dried plant leaf, too much dry cat food, at least one paper napkin (oops!) and many a Christmas decoration 'dropping'. Now...if it will last a good long while I will be completely happily ever after.

Without question, a far superior vacuum over all others. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Hobart/KitchenAid, Wüsthof, Henckels; German design and engineering is objectively superior and this vacuum is no exception, even while manufactured in China it is head and shoulders above our previous central vac and Dyson. It is an absolute pleasure to use and aesthetic. I used to hate vacuuming, now I like it and the special filters will improve the quality of our air. There is a quiet setting which is nice but I don't find it terribly loud at all. We have three long-haired cats, tile, wood floors, low pile rugs as well as wall-to-wall carpeting and this performs amazingly on all. Maneuverability could not be better. It is very lightweight. I bought an extra dusting brush to use on my white curtains and slip-covered upholstery only. The adjustable suction is life-changing because I am able to use low suction on things like lightweight curtains where stronger suction would be problematic. The only improvement I would suggest is a more secure mechanism for the on board attachment holder and possibly a longer cord. Changing the bag could not be more simple, there is an indicator that lets you know when it is full. I purchase bags when on sale directly from the Miele website where it is easy to find the correct bag for my particular model, in order to ensure I receive a genuine product, and because I try to avoid too many purchases on Amazon thereby contributing to consolidation of wealth directed to global finance capitalists.

I've had an electrolux canister vac for 5 years and love it. But I was shlepping it back and forth to clean short-term rentals we have so I gave the electrolux to the business and needed a new vac for the house intending to purchase the same model again. However, when I started researching, the Miele kept coming up as equivalent to the electrolux or better. The two models I have are the same price and have virtually the same features. I chose the Miele and here's why I'm glad I did: The Miele C1 compact has a much smaller footprint so it's easier to store. Miele has three castor wheels so it glides around effortlessly and doesn't get caught up or turned over like the electrolux does. The electrolux has stationary wheels. Miele has a bag. This may be a dealbreaker for some but for me it was a plus. I liked the idea of the bagless initially when I purchased the electrolux but the bagless chamber requires rinsing and cleaning periodically. I found this to be tedious and it never came completely clean because of all the nooks and crannies in the chamber. Also, I noticed an odor the next time I vacuumed after cleaning the chamber. You would think it would smell better, but it didn't. So I would add essential oils to the filters to mask the "off" odor. I like the idea of replacing the Miele bag every 3 or 4 months without any fuss or need to clean out a compartment. 4 bags on Amazon cost about $20. The Miele C1 vacuum head is a non-motorized brushless one and has a foot switch to go from hard surfaces to carpet. The Electrolux had two heads (a motorized one and a non-motorized brushless hard surface one). I only have hard surfaces with a couple of low pile area rugs. The Miele handled my floors and area rugs superbly as did the Electrolux with the hard surface head. I never used the Electrolux's motorized head. It was one more thing to store. And who is going to change heads multiple times while vacuuming? If you have a lot of carpet the C1 Miele is not for you. Upgrade to one of their C2 or C3 models with motorized brush heads to handle carpet. Or the Electrolux with the motorized head could work too. The Miele attachments are attached to the hose at the canister. The Electrolux's are on the handle where you hold the wand. This may seem nit-picky but the attachments were forever falling off of the Electrolux's handle because it's where you hold the thing. So, in the end I just took them off and stored them which means I never used them because they weren't convenient. The Miele attachments are on-board but out of the way. Overall, I really like the way the Miele feels to operate. It's smoother and easier to drag around. They both vacuumed really well. Better than any vac I've ever owned (including the Dyson). But the Miele is more streamlined, less clunky. It has a metal wand vs the plastic one on the electrolux. After about 3 years, the Electrolux's hose ripped at the base. I easily ordered a replacement but it wasn't cheap. The Miele gets fantastic reviews for longevity, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Their C2 and C3 models have crush proof hoses while the cheaper C1 doesn't. Time will tell if it holds up any better than the Electrolux. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either vacuum but I prefer the Miele. They are the Cadillac of vacuums. But choose the model based on the types of flooring you have and not price. More expensive doesn't equal better if it isn't appropriate for your floors. And if you haven't tried a canister, you don't know what you are missing.

I live in a small, 600 square foot apartment with wood and tile floors. I bought this bagged canister vacuum because I was honestly tired of the poor performance and dust associated with upright bag-less vacuums (looking at you, shark). Although those vacuums are better for higher pile carpeting, they are quite messy to empty if you don't do it outside, and quite honestly, the suction is lacking. When I saw this little vacuum, I wasn't expecting miracles, but what I got pleasantly surprised me. The suction coming out of the vacuum was significantly more than I had ever experienced with an upright, and the bag can hold quite a lot of dust and debris without any adverse effect on the suction. I was planning on just using it for the floors, but I found that the bristle dusting attachment is actually more effective at dusting my place than a handheld duster (and it keeps the dust in the bag, which is a plus). Thus, I have found myself turning to this vacuum much more often for cleaning. The only controls on the vacuum are suction, a power switch, and a switch to rewind the cord into the machine. I have found the machine to be quite quiet, even on the highest setting (which really is overkill in terms of suction). Depending on where you're living, I suppose the lower settings can be useful for less noise, but frankly the unit is more quiet than most uprights I've used. I should note here that there are no powered attachments for this vacuum- no rotating floor brush or anything of that sort. As the product description mentions, this is really a vacuum made for hard floors and low-pile carpet. And for those tasks, this vacuum excels. The only complaint I would have is that the vacuum could come with a couple extra bags- it only comes with one and a filter.

I am a huge fan of Miele vacuums. I already own the Miele Capri which is now retired. However, we now live in a two story home and the idea of carrying a vacuum up and down the stairs seemed awful to me, especially since the Capri has two separate heads. Therefore, I needed another vacuum but didn't want to spend TOO much money. Our entire upstairs is hardwood except for a few small area rugs so this seemed like a good purchase. I do appreciate not having two floor heads but I do think the head on my capri is much smoother and functions better than this one. Even though it isn't, it always feels as though this one may scratch the floor a bit. It drags a bit across the floor unlike my other model. It does fine on the area rug but I would never use this is a fully carpeted area. It also has a longer cord which I like and it maneuvers well. I think it was a fine purchase. A small part of me wishes I had splurged on a better model (same brand) with a few more bells and whistles but this is doing the job so far.

I carefully read reviews and it takes a long time before I commit so much money to a product like this. I would advise going to a local vacuum store and trying this out first ..if you can. Pros: 1. AMAZING suction. 2. Lightweight: You can pick this up and carry it easily - and it floats along with you in the smoothest way while using it. 3. Its so easy to keep clean, and after the canister type vacuum cleaners this was just as important to me as its suction capacity. 4. EXCELLENT FILTER & BAG. The bag is like a thinner mattress pad - its that thick. 5. Dusting is an option with this vacuum. Put the brush on and you can clean your blinds, baseboards and all those really hard to dust areas - or ALL areas :D Cons: 1. Fittings felt too flimsy and cheap was my first reaction when I opened it up and put it together. 2. Vacuum head seems like it would scratch your finish, it has a scraping sound and its really worrisome. I don't believe its ruining my floors - I do check to make sure though. I'm also thinking of maybe attaching some thin felt on the metal part with India rubber to ease my paranoia! 3. ***MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL*** It will NOT vacuum your regular or shag-type carpets easily at all. You can, but its very difficult to do. I have a nice large area rug and its great to run this over it..one direction. So I would vacuum with a 'carpet' vacuum then go over my rug in one direction. I bought this vacuum specifically for my wood floors and saw from reading another review in here that they found it was great to dust with! I was apprehensive when I first got this and saw for myself from another review in here that it felt like the parts were cheap, so I was prepared to hate it and deeply regret this purchase. Happily, after MUCH use I absolutely love it and am so very glad I have it. I almost feel like Gollum because its very precious to me. haha Good luck to any who read this! Like many people. We had that one vacuum cleaner we got when we bought our first house in 1983 and you couldn't kill it. Moved around the country a few times finally settles down and it died. Then starts the great appliance chase. They don't build them like they used to! Technology advances. Bagged, bagless, HEPA, cordless, stick......stop. We just want a vacuum that works on wood floors, doesn't throw dust everywhere, isn't going to die in a year, doesn't have a touch screen or move around on it's own. You know a vacuum cleaner I bough my wife when we got married. Well several cleaners later and a price that my wife found a little hard to swallow (I showed her the higher priced models and she almost had a stroke) we bought the Miele Pure. There are YouTube videos galore about this and other vacuums that my description couldn't do justice. Bottom line itIt reminds me of an updated old school vacuum cleaner. Has a bag. It is darn near silent when running even unless you're at the max speed then it mildly noisy. It does't exhaust dust. The included attachments work well for our house but if you need others Amazon has them for sale. Bags are easy to change and aren't expensive. It's light weight. Stores easily. We've had no issues at all. We've been using it for about six months now. Most importantly my wife loves it so happy wife, happy life.

I recently closed on a condo and our first big project was to swap out the carpet for laminate. Peeling off the carpet and underlayment revealed a THICK layer of plaster dust and small bits of concrete. I was worried that this brand new vacuum wouldn't take the punishment of a task such as this, since I bought it primarily to deal with routine cleaning of the laminate AFTER the fact, but since this was the only vacuum within proximity, I decided to go ahead and use it for the project. Thankfully, it handled the task perfectly and sucked up all bits of chips, rocks, and plaster that had laid dormant under this carpet for over 30 years. I went through a couple bags but had the foresight of buying a large supply of spares just in case. I recommend you do the same if you're planning on using this in a more extreme or heavy duty environment. However when it comes to just daily/weekly routine maintenance of your floors, I think the bags would honestly last a good long while before needing to be swapped out. I love this thing. It's relatively light and portable, and way more convenient to deal with than having to empty out and wash out a typical upright. The compact form factor goes well too with the modestly sized condo I'll be using it in ( approx. ~650sqft). Glad I decided to go the bag route instead -- it seems like the perfect candidate for someone lazy that doesn't want to deal with anymore cleaning than necessary. Tossing out full bags and swapping in a new one takes less than 30 seconds. I especially love the wheels on the side and ridiculously long power cord, which made dragging it around the place near effortless. Just remember this vacuum isn't meant for thick carpet, and is most ideal for hard/flat surfaces and/or low carpet/rugs. My first Miele product but probably won't be my last if this vacuum is any indication of their overall quality.

My family suffer from asthma and allergies. Because of that, I vacuum almost daily. I was looking for a reasonably small, easy to manage canister vac and this one fit the bill. After using this vacuum very, very frequently over the last 18 months, I am overall very pleased with the performance and durability of this vacuum. I have not noticed any decrease in suction, and the vacuum itself, aside from a few dings on the canister from where I crashed it into walls while rushing around tidying for a surprise visit from my mother in law, looks immaculate. After 18 months of almost daily use, here is the breakdown on this vacuum Sealed bag system, good for asthma and allergies. Once dust enters the system (is vacuumed up) it does not escape. I love changing the bags on this vacuum, everything locks firmly inside the bag. I am not exposed to the contents of the bag at all, ever. LOVE. The bags seem to last FOREVER. Or for me, about 3 months of almost daily vacuuming per bag. The bags are available on amazon and they're really reasonably priced. They're also really, really easy to change out. Ditto for the air filters. My box of vacuum bags came with a couple of air filters, which I have changed out about every 6 months. Really easy to change, I do it myself with no husbandly assistance Powerful suction. I use this primarily on hardwood and tile and it lifts everything. It doesn't scratch the hardwood with the hard floor attachment. It has 6 different suction settings, just twist the dial to choose (really easy to change) When paired with the carpet attachment, it makes great carpet lines! Small size. This vacuum is compact. It is easy to tug along behind me and light to pick up and carry up the stairs. It has a handle on one end. The retractable cord is a huge plus because the cord is a bit short- I have to use 4 different outlets to vacuum my 1500 square foot single-floor home (5 if I vacuum the stairs, too). No problem, just push a button on the canister and the cord comes flying back so you dont have to wrestle with it over to tte next outlet. Sound: well it's a vacuum. It sounds like a vacuum. But the quiet option is actually a bit quieter. This vacuum is quieter than my previous vacuum (a Bissell) but it still sounds like a vacuum! Attachments. There are 3 included brushes. I like the hard floor brush, it is nice and soft and doesn't scratch my hardwood. The little round brush I have never used. And the long slender attachment is perfect for the car - it gets underneath and in between the seats with ease. It does not come with a carpet head, though I recommend buying one. The three brushes come on a plastic holder, which does not attach to the vacuum in any way and consequently I lost over a year ago. The hose stretches long enough to get all of my stairs but two. I wish the hose were a few inches longer. Beyond that, I use this vacuum all the time and I love everything about it. I have had exactly zero issues with it since I purchased it a year and a half ago, and I use it heavily and frequently. It is easy and affordable to use and maintain. My asthmatic lungs are exposed to no dust while changing the bags on this machine, which i only have to do about four times per year. I have recommended this vacuum to everyone I know. And now I am recommending it to you. Fantastic vacuum. I gave this vacuum five stars because I really do love it. It has made my life easier and my health better. That certainly deserves five stars to me!

I have been using it for a few weeks now. For a vacuum, it is quiet. All the components seem to be of a high quality. The motor even has "soft start", where you press the power button, and it gradually increases motor speed over a second or two. This adds to the quiet aspect of it. As I vacuum up oodles of dog hair, a larger filter bag would be nice... but given the physical size of it, a larger bag isn't really possible. Oh... and the casters work really well... other vacuums moved begrudgingly when you pulled them... this one moves easily. A really nice compact vacuum.

I purchased this item quite some time ago and I'm really happy with it. First I was concerned, because I don't really like vacuum cleaners with bags, they fill quickly and have a bad smell after a while. But not this one. I subscribed for amazon's service, but then skipped it, because I don't need new bags every third month, although I vacuum regularly, and we live in a townhouse. I don't have a pet, so I don't struggle with pet hair. Easy to move it around, and it's made of quality parts, not cheap plastic.

This vacuum cleaner is much better than my previous cheapo one. The first thing is that the noise is muted and I can vacuum downstairs while my kids are sleeping upstairs without waking them up. The suction is strong, and it is especially effective on hardwood floors. It is not particularly light, but I suppose this has to do with the robust construction. Also, I am a few inches over 5’ and not very heavy so it is likely my size may give weight of product some context. Overall it works as expected and the quality meets expectations and I would recommend.

I own a cleaning business and have tried a lot of different vacuums. Miele has never let me down. I used to have a Dyson vac for work and exchanged it for a Miele C3. This vacuum was to replace my personal dyson upright. The reason I went with a C1 is for the smaller size and most of all to have the crevices tools easily accessible. I find opening the door of the C3 model to get to the brush a extra step but I needed that feature for my work vacuum since I move it from place to place so much. That being said, that is the one downside to the vacuum. The tool holder goes in the same direction as putting in the tools. This means when you pull to remove one tool, all three can come up. A easy fix would be for Miele to manufacture the tool holder with the slot attaching from the bottom of the hose. I would remove half a star for that if I could. The advantages of the vacuum are that it is bagged meaning you get a new filter every time you change the bag. And these bags last a long time. I am guessing I won’t use more than 2 bags a year for my 800sq hard floor apartment with no pets. I hate washing filters because all that garbage goes down your pipes and it’s just gross. Especially if you have pets, it just never gets clean. The canister model makes it so easy to get under furniture and keeps the weight on the ground. Best for low carpet and hard floors. The floor attachment works for both floors but I would recommend the air driven brush for any carpet and the swivel floor tool for hard floor. The swivel brush moves around things very easily. I find the cord length easily reaches all around my home and I don’t miss the extra 6 feet from the C3 model. Of course suction power is great, I find meile much better at picking up both small and large particles because of the varying length of bristles on the brush. Dyson tends to be very good for small particles but pushes around large particles. The vacuum is lightweight and as mentioned before, the weight stays on the ground. It stores well with a brush holder on the back and the side. I also like the fact that this is corded. The trend for cordless worries me because batteries wear out so quickly. Just think of your cell phone. I have used meile vacuums that are more than 20 years old and I don’t see that happening with the cordless brands. Probably more details of a vacuum than most people think about, but these are the things that make cleaning easier and this vacuum makes cleaning easy.
