At least with my 2021 16” M1 Max. I can’t speak for the 14” models. I really like it a lot and it stays on my Mac all the time. Also, I’ve noticed it was mentioned in a review that it makes their Mac hot - I’ve never experienced that, even when rendering an hour-long, 4K video. My fans barely run during rendering, and that’s with the lid closed (the lid is usually closed because I use external monitors most of the time, unless I’m traveling).
