small and exact, perfect for jewelry
My wife had a link break in an expensive bracelet. I had a choice: take it to a jeweler and get charged an arm and a leg, or fix it myself. I got 14k solder points, a jar of self-pickeling flux, and this pencil torch and paid less than half of the jeweler option. It was almost too easy. Beautiful, tight flame. Excellent.

Didn't know you needed until now
Very cool kit, I need a torch for tight areas and this fits the bill for sure. I have used it on different sizes of copper pipe and works without fault. Super easy setup and has 2 different adjusters for the flame. Works great

Pretty worthless...
This is nothing more than a glorified, overpriced solder iron and foam cutter. You can do exactly what this does with any old $10 solder iron, at that. The torch feature is completely useless. It didn't even get hot enough to melt flux or low temp resin core solder. Turning it up at all and it'll blow it's own flame out. The valve to the bottle doesn't extend and contract like it should with the knob. Off? On? Once on, there's no off till I disconnect the bottle (flame off, of course). I shove the valve up so at least gas isn't leaking out as I screw in the tank. I thought at least the striker would be useful. Nope. I don't know how you DON'T get a pezioelectric spark out of an instrument designed to do that.... Unless it sucks. Well, it only produces a spark in maybe 1 of 3 strikes. I have to practically shove the torch nozzle spewing gass into it to get it to light. You have no idea how disappointed I am. I'd wanted this torch for about a yea, thinking it'd solve a lot of my problems. Nope. Absolutely not. Just mire cleanup. Ever have something you hate yourself for buying? Yeah, this is one of mine.

Great flame control - needs external igniter
Great product. Excellent control over the flame and love the fact that the torch is on the end of a hose rather than connected directly to the tank which means you can concentrate on what you are heating and not have to worry about holding an awkward gas tank. I would recommend that build some kind of lighter into the unit. As it is, you have to have an external lighter to ignite it. I found that the spark tool they include is useless. If they had that, it would definitely be five stars!

Doesn't last long
I have purchased this item twice, the first one stopped working after a couple of days no gas would flow through it it's like the on and off valve was stuck shut, my second one lasted a little bit longer but the same thing happened, no gas will flow through it I have tried propane and map gas.

Not for precision work until modified...
I'm currently building a bunch of 240 volt 50 amp cables. I like to solder the ends of the cooper wire to keep shorting whiskers from being a problem. In the past when doing one or two cables, I'd just use a propane cylinder with a standard plumber's torch. But, the setup isn't exactly a precision solution. I purchased this with the intent on using MAPP gas to solder tin the big-gauge cables. The problem is, the short 3' 1/8" (3.2mm) 20bar (~300psi) hose is far too stiff to move the torch around easily. As a fix, I've ordered a 10' air brush hose. A MAPP gas cylinder produces about 100psi. This is about the maximum pressure for such hose. I couldn't find any listings for burst pressure. I'll be anchoring the hose to the barbs with a wire clamp tool similar to the ClampTite offering. Also, the torch output seems to be rather inconsistent as it warms. Like being in the shower, as the pipes heat up, the hot water volume decreases. Just be aware and keep an eye out and adjust as necessary. The included spark igniter is useless. Have a Bic BBQ or candle lighter on-hand to use as a torch lighter. I'm sure once I massage the tool to get it to work the way I need it to, it will function well. But, the fact I have to do the work to make it work, kinda blows.

Good quality unit - Just make sure you understand how it works
After I read the mixed reviews I was not sure this torch would suit my needs. Not for its capabilities but rather for its performance. Lots of folks have complained about poor flame quality. I believe most of the bad reviews are due to not understanding on how the torch works. For me out of the box, I found it to operate flawlessly. There are two controls. One on the bottle regulator and one on the torch. I work mostly in brass so butane was the easiest option. Propane torches were too hot to do the intricate kind of work I doโฆ. Until now. The adjustable propane flame from this torch will be my go to.
