This book is a wealth of knowledge put together in a clear and concise format.
Although it has sections on rebuilding several models, it's not really a in depth guide for rebuilding any one model. More like a deep dive into manual transmissions in general. What I really like about this book is it gives you the general information and advice that isn't included in the factory service manuals. Like inspecting and de burring gear teeth, or the overhang on reverse gears. If you are looking for the proverbial tricks of the trade, they are in here.

A valuable repair and reference manual
Full of good shots and clear verbal descriptions of assembly and disassembly. Also has many examples of breakage and failures with discussions of how to repair and improve the assembly to prevent future. Paul discusses transmission design, strengths and weaknesses, and applications. A valuable reference book to keep in your library.

A valuable & useful book
A useful book with helpful photos. Used this book along with a OEM Ford shop manual to rebuild my vintage Borg Warner T-10 trans. The shop manual provided detailed specs for my T-10 whereas the workbench series book had more generic information for a variety of popular transmissions. The book is competitively priced and it helped in my rebuild.

A good book to introduce you to MT's
I got this book when I was in the market for a B-Body car that I wanted a 4-speed in. I wanted to familiarize myself with the rebuilds I planned on taking on in this particular project. The book is organized into chapters that help guide a person along in the transmission rebuild process. From a chapter on transmission theory, to assembly and the different types of transmissions used by the manufacturers. Each chapter has photos of what's being talked about or explained, which is good because the book probably would have been a little bulkier with the descriptions. With that said, this is not a step by step rebuild guide of the various transmissions and is not intended to be so. I view this book for someone who needs to create baseline knowledge about manual transmissions and what to look out for from a "real world" experience rather than a "how things should be" technical service manual.

A great book/manual on HP tranies.
One of the neat things about this transmission rebuild manual is the history of the HP transmissions. I thought I was pretty up on Muncie’s, and T-10’s which were IT in my day. I at least doubled or tripled my knowledge reading this book. For instance, I didn’t know Muncie’s and T-10s were produced with a gear set where 3rd gear was an overdrive. Didn’t know that GM reverted back to T-10’s during the gas crunch when higher geared rear axles were used. Didn’t know the Chrysler A833 was the strongest tranny, and was used to replace Muncie’s by serious drag racers. there is a lot of interesting info in this book, you can’t go wrong!

Well I dont know. All the important stuff is inside if you buy the book
Great book, step by step. A lot of inside knowledge too from someone who has become a legend among men in the transmission world. It helped me out a lot and now I can say “ I’ve rebuilt my own transmission.”. It’s a cool feeling. Anyways thanks Paul for taking the time to spread the knowledge and help guys like me make their machines come true.
