A compact field guide with 310 common British bird species, detailed illustrations, descriptions, and distribution maps for bird identification in the wild. Review: Lovely easy to read book. - Fantastic bird guide. Iv been looking for a good bird book for a while and I read reviews as I dont want to waste money on a book that is not going to be what im looking for. This bird book is Fantastic and well worth the money, it had brilliant illustration, great facts, where the bird lives and travel. There is so much information iv found it hard to put down. For any bird watchers I believe this book is the right one. Living in the country I wanted to identify what the bird are we have in our garden. This has helped massively. It's pocket sized to easy to take with you on any adventure. My daughter is 8 and even she has found it fascinating to look through. Review: Great little BRITISH BIRD BOOK - Clear drawings of birds. Enough detail, would recommend. Fits in pocket, just about as women’s pockets tend to be smaller or sometimes non existent, compared to men’s. C’est la vie! I’ve made extra pockets in my jacket fir my art stuff, like the artist Samuel Palmer. It works!

Sticky label keeping book closed - why?
Great little book once you can open it. Was sealed shut by a sticky label over the open side of the book. Trying to remove this has left the cover of the book sticky and tacky on both sides. Unpleasant to hold now. Think of something else please!

This book is beautifully illustrated and packed with loads of highly informative information including descriptions, habits and even the calls for each bird (300+) to enable you to correctly identify them. It's the perfect size to carry and great value.

Helpful and handy size.
This wee book does exactly what you would expect. It has clear photographs of the birds with good descriptions and pointers as to the most relevant distinguishing features. Birds are grouped in a logical way. Male and female and sometimes juvenile examples are provided. It is small enough to keep handy or take with you.

Took this book on my trip to England and made much use of it, though of course nowadays you can find all this pretty easily on the internet.

I have a big, heavy bird guide for all of Europe, but we were trying to travel light for a month-long vacation in Ireland. I also didn’t want to have to look past hundreds of European birds that are never seen in Ireland. This guide includes all the birds seen in Ireland (as well as UK, Northern Ireland, and Scotland), as well as many of the “rarities” in the back of the book that are sometimes seen. It was small enough to carry with me so I could flip through the pages to find the bird I just saw. Note that this uses the local names of birds, so there are some familiar birds that go by a different name than the US. It also has the official Latin names so I could cross-reference with the US names. Highly recommended.

This is the guide I carried with me on a recent trip to Wales. I know my birds in the eastern U.S. pretty well, but was completely unfamiliar with their UK cousins. This small guide fit in a jacket pocket and I could take it anywhere. It has all the birds of the full-size version, which I left back in my room for more in-depth research in the evening.

I bought this for a trip to England. I liked the format and found it easy to use. I also liked what information is standard on each bird. We had so much fun "discovering" birds that aren't here in the USA.
