Don Francisco Hawaiian Hazelnut Coffee, 12 Ounce

TL;DR: A 5-star daily driver that maintains exact flavor profiles across multiple repeat orders. Beyond the coffee, the steel-can packaging provides significant secondary value as stable photography risers and a safe sharps-disposal system. [STRUCTURAL SPEC] Chassis: 12oz recyclable steel can with an airtight plastic seal. Secondary Utility: The rigid steel construction makes the empty cans ideal for propping up items for product photography. Unlike plastic or flimsy aluminum, they offer a flat, non-slip surface for stabilizing gear. Safety Mod: Perfect for hobbyists. By taping the lid down and cutting a slot, this becomes a puncture-resistant "Sharps" container for used hobby blades—significantly safer than using a standard soda can. [CHEMISTRY & FLAVOR] Roast Profile: Consistent Medium. It avoids the "charred" notes of dark roasts while offering more depth than a light breakfast blend. Aromatic Output: High-volume toasted hazelnut and coconut notes. The scent fills the workspace immediately upon brewing, functioning as an atmospheric asset. Acidity Level: Low. This is a "smooth" cup that lacks the bitter finish of generic Arabica blends, making it ideal for high-frequency consumption throughout the workday. [FIELD PERFORMANCE] Repeatability: Having ordered this 4 or 5 times, I can verify zero "batch variance." The flavor and grind size remain stable across different production lots. Hardware Compatibility: Works reliably in drip, pour-over, and French press. The universal medium grind prevents "fine-clogging" while ensuring a full-bodied extraction. [PRICE-TO-PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS] Market Position: At the ~$6 price point, this coffee punches significantly above its weight class. Quality Gap: While it’s priced similarly to "budget" grocery brands, the flavor profile is vastly superior. It lacks the chemical aftertaste and "charred" bitterness common in other sub-$10 coffees. It bridges the gap between bottom-tier bulk coffee and overpriced specialty bags. [FINAL VERDICT] A 5-star consumable for those who prioritize aroma and consistency. It is a reliable, high-performing "Command Center" fuel that offers bonus structural utility once the coffee is gone.

We love this coffee and replaced it with our old one. It’s smooth and tasty. I was saddened with the price jumped so high. We normally get the Hawaiian hazelnut but the price is double what we normally pay. The can size for the cheaper priced is worth it but the can doesn’t last a week for so I’d be forced to switch brands if this price stays. We will try another flavor instead as the vanilla nut is at the normal price. I like the can it comes in. Just easier than dealing with a bag and it’s fresh. Hopefully the prices can remain fair and consistent with what I started with. It’s a great coffee!

After enjoying this same brand’s vanilla nut coffee I decided to try the hazelnut variety and like it, as well. Taste is subjective, but the company seems to have a knack for flavoring coffees without the usual unpleasant aftertaste that is common with others I have purchased. Unexpectedly, the hazelnut coffee also has a noticeable coconut flavor which I, and the other adult in residence, thought an excellent addition. The coffee smells great in the can and while brewing. There is no acidic bite or bitterness in the cup – very smooth and rich. As is the case with the majority of flavored coffees, this is a medium roast, and although with my usual coffees I purchase dark, this blend is not at all weak and the flavors of hazelnut, coconut and the coffee itself are well balanced. Impressive for a moderately priced brand. Any leftovers are good for use in iced coffee or frozen in ice cube trays for use in cooling iced coffee without diluting the beverage and the cubes also works well in smoothies. Ground coffee quickly loses freshness once the can is opened, so if I do not plan to consume the full quantity within a week, I will vacuum seal portions for future use. This brand is one I only occasionally find locally, so it is a time-saver to order it here, and the hazelnut flavor is one I will buy again. The can I received has a “best before” date 22 months in future.

I had been trying to find a good hazelnut coffee for a while. Don Francisco's Hawaiian hazelnut flavor is very smooth, has a pleasant aroma, and is not overpowering. The container is durable and a nice addition to my kitchen. Overall, great coffee at an affordable price.

Decent coffee, good flavor

I purchased the hazelnut which I love but this has no hazelnut taste whatsoever. I am disappointed it takes like regular coffee which is not bad. I've had much better. I have the regular flavor to be delivered today which now I wish I didn't buy it cuz this one tastes like regular coffee.

This is the best coffee! I love the butterscotch, hazelnut, vanilla nut is my fave but I buy it all! Even the decaf is amazing coffee! This is wonderful in the French press and I really, really wish they made Nespresso Vertuo capsules for my machine. I even purchased a capsule container that you can add your own coffee into and then insert that into the Nespresso machine but that doesn't work. This is the only drawback I can mention about a potential improvement. Please partner with Nespresso Vertuo to create those capsules.

This coffee is absolutely delicious and the price was great. If you love flavored coffee you must try this one. The hazelnut flavor is rich and aromatice. You will not be disappointed.
