I have use it for over 1 year now. The leather is vegetable tanned leather you hardly find from other brand. I use the smooth side to apply compound. The compound will become darken and darken and less effective after use but can be wiped off with toilet paper and re-apply new compound. I use fresh side which is fluffy to finish off knife sharpening. I clean fresh side with pencil eraser from time to time. The compound is easy to apply, not bad in term of effectiveness. I recommend Al oxide compound from other bland for most effective if you have knife with HRC over 60. You still can use this Bacher compound but it is time consuming. The leather paddle is very useful for cleaning knife sharpening diamond plate, apply with polishing compound to clean stubborn dirty in you kitchen. I just polish my oven with help of this leather paddle.

Update 12/30/25: I bought a second strop, and at the recommendation of a Youtube video I decided to try out the strop with some diamond stropping compound applied to the leather after first sanding it with 120 grit sandpaper, and wow does it make a difference! The diamond compound lasts way longer than any of the waxy compound that's included does, and it not only does it remove the burr but it polishes the edge of the knife as well. My knife's edge was literally shaving hair like a barber's razor after stropping with the compound! Seriously, I really recommend you look into buying diamond compound or diamond emulsion along with this strop. I put 1 micron on the smooth side and 4 micron on the rough side, works well for me. It's a bit pricey to buy the good brands of stropping compound. But it makes a world of a difference in stropping. It really takes this Bacher strop to the next level. Original review: As the title says, this strop has allowed me to take my knives to the next level of sharpness, to get my kitchen and pocket knives slicing cleanly and removing any burrs which can cause hang ups after sharpening. I followed the instruction manual's recommendation and i put the white (fine) compound on the rougher side and green (very fine) compound on the finer side and its been working beautifully for me. Using a light touch, not putting too much pressure just basically the weight of the blade and ensuring im hitting the apex at the right angle, my knives are taken to this next level of sharpness that I'm looking for. It can also revive the edge of a knife that I can tell is getting dull from use, and maintain that edge longer before I have to sharpen it. The handle and wood is great quality, the leather is layed out very even and flat, it comes with 4 different compounds, some polishing wax, and some little paddles to help apply and spread the compound. for the price you can't beat it.

Das Abziehleder ist qualitativ hochwertig und gut verarbeitet. Auf die grobere und die feinere Lederseite können unterschiedliche Schleifpasten aufgetragen werden.
