Equity 14080 Analog Night Vision Alarm Clock

This may be the closest to perfect analog alarm clock, especially for seniors, that you can find. I have been hunting for an alarm clock for years. I have bought so many, thinking "this is the one," only to find out it was not quite what I wanted and needed. I wanted an analog alarm that I could see clearly even in the dark, or when I did not have my glasses on, and one that I could hear the alarm ringing, even when I was not wearing my hearing aids. I wanted one that would be loud enough to wake me when I was sound asleep and not wearing my hearing aids, but not so loud that it would "shock" me awake. I found many that some of these things but not all of them. At least not until now. This alarm clock checks off all of them. The alarm has a gradually increasing beep. There is a snooze if you want those few extra snoozes. There is a backlight that you can hit for a quick light or if you are like me, you can leave the light continuously through the night. The light also has a dial so that you can choose the amount of brightness you want. The only thing that makes this clock be a 4.9 star instead of a 5.o star is that the dials for setting the alarm or the time as a bit short and make it a just a little harder to turn them. However, I feel this is as close to perfect I will find. I would definitely recommend it!!

I never thought I could love an alarm clock, but I do LOVE this one! It is easy to read from a few feet away while I am in bed (I purposely keep this clock out of arm's reach so I MUST get out of bed to deal with the alarm), has a tremendous amount of control for the brightness level of its backlighting—which I often use as a makeshift "flashlight" in the dark by pushing down on the top button which brings it to a very full brightness. Obviously not its intended use, but it helps me frequently in the dark. The pattern of the alarm sounds is perfect, starting softly and gently, then over many seconds, progressing to a full and loud annoying beeping. And, other than the alarm sounds, the clock itself is absolutely silent, at least to my ears. I've even held it up right to my ear canal and I cannot hear anything at all (but my ears are 63 years old, so maybe factor that in). Wait. What did you say? Never mind, I thought I heard something... Anyway, the funny thing is, when I bought this clock, I actually had no intention of ever even using it for real; it had been bought solely as a prop for a student filmmaking project (yes, 63 and back in school)! Indeed, previous to this purchase, I had been using my iPhone exclusively as my alarm clock for many, many years. But, I thought, as long as I owned it, I might as well give it a try, and I was shocked to find that I love it, as stated previously. I actually now use both my iPhone and this clock in tandem, setting the iPhone for an earlier range of wakeup, which I can snooze through to a point, but then this clock is set with a later, final alarm as my GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF BED THERE AIN'T NO MORE TIME FOR SNOOZING alarm. As crazy at it might sound, the iPhone/clock combination has been working perfectly now for several months, and I wake up (just slightly) less grumpy! ;-)

At first I was happy to get this clock. I had been looking for a bedside light up at night clock. Unfortunately, after only 2 days, the clock no longer lit up. Everything else worked correctly, but at night I couldn't see the time because the lighting was not working. I was bummed.

It's CrAzY how finding a good decent battery operated Clock of the right size for your bedroom can be today! So I came to Amazon and ordered many clocks and it came down to this one but it had flaws so I made some MODS to mine and now it is Flawless and PERFECT for my needs. (Read on) I loved this Clock so much BUT when I woke up late at night and pressed the top LIGHT button to see the time, the BLUE LED clock light was SO BRIGHT it would Blind me! (As many reviews had commented). Also I like my room pitch black with NO lights and I could NOT turn off the Green LED Backlight no matter how low you adjusted the variable control on the rear. SO being an electronics repairman here is the MODS I made to my clock to make the BLUE LED go from 100% bright to about 20% (Just perfect @ night) and a rear switch to cut OFF the Green Backlights. I took the clock apart (See Photos) I located the 2 Orange wires which are for the BLUE LED and I placed in a 1.2k ohm resistor in series. At first I used a 1K ohm resistor but still was just a tad too bright, so I changed it to a 1.2K ohm and it is PERFECT for viewing @ night without blinding me! Now I wanted to get rid of the green LED backlights but still allow myself to turn them back on and adjust them should I desire to use this feature. So I located the white LED-G wire (G for green backlight) and removed the wire and installed a small On/Off switch on the rear of my clock. Now I can TURN ON/OFF the annoying green backlights at night and keep my room completely dark. If I desire to use this feature I can turn it back on at the throw of a switch and control the brightness. You can see an image of the BLUE LED brightness in a totally dark room. It is SO MUCH LESS BRIGHT and does not hurt your eyes at all in the middle of the night! NOW I TOTALLY LOVE THIS CLOCK!!!! Some reviews have said the lifespan may be short, well I ordered a backup and have done the same MODS to it and have it so when down the road I still have my PERFECT Bedroom analog battery Clock.

Clock is quiet and keeps good time. Easy to read. Snooze is easy to hit. The backlighting is not too bright if you turn it down all the way and if it turns out that's too hard to see in the middle of the night all bleary eyed, it's easy to turn that up. The only issue I have with it is the knobs/dials to adjust the time and the alarm. These are not all that easy to turn (and my fingers are decently small) and are a little loose (vs precise) with the alarm time. Not really a problem if you just need to set time once and forget it, but as I change between two times multiple times every week, it's something I find irksome.

This is the third clock of this brand that w'eve owned over the years and they have been exceptional performers. The dimmable full face lighting is pleasing and the contrast between the face and hands makes it easy to read at night. The three double AA batteries last a good long time and the body of the clock is substantial and well made.

Bought it for my wife. She loves it. Lights up at night but not disturbingly bright.

I bought this to replace an old clock that was about 5 years old and just stopped working. This one was about 1/2 the price. And when I received it I was a bit disappointed because the plastic lens face was popped out. The battery cover doesn't stay on (I taped it). Honestly - it's like it's the 5 year old junk clock, new right out of the box! It works - we'll see for how long. The night light part is controlled by a wonky dial on the back and is kind of disappointing. As I always say - you get what you pay for. And in this case, I would NOT purchase this one again, nor would I recommend it. I doubt it's going to last 1 year let alone 5 - but it was cheap. Time will tell! Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful.
