The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power has sold over one million copies. It presents the great spiritual and psychological truths in a simple manner, making them practical for daily use. You will read inspiring historical stories of those who dared all for Truth -- and found wisdom and peace at last. "The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power" is Vernon Howard's most popular book. This beautiful new 2005 edition belongs in the library of every serious spiritual student. Review: Wonderful book and author - If you really want to grow Spiritually....this book is a great road map. Vernon Howard was one of the best authors in this genre I have ever read...I only wish I had the wisdom to see how important this stuff is when I was in my 20's. The Kingdom of Heaven is indeed in us...but we have to want it with all of our hearts...then it rewards that desire with insights that lead you to peace. Think about it. The Voice of Truth, God, whatever you want to call it....is always there...but it is usually overshadowed by our ego, which is loud and stupid...the cause of all our problems and distress. But it knows us so well....and as the Course In Miracles states: "Your ego is totally insane....it doesn't want you to know Who takes every step with you. For it knows that if you knew that God is always with you, you would throw ego away...so it keeps you in a low level of anxiety to control you" So true. I know...have lived it. God is Love. So very powerful, He can afford to be gentle....has no need to scream at you. It is an inevitable fact that you will one day realize He is closer to you than your breath...so He can stand back and watch with sympathetic amusement as you struggle with all your "knowings"....lol!!! If you get this book...you will be hooked on Vernon Howard....a breath of fresh air. Review: This book is for those who are totally fed up with pain and suffering - I'm not talking about the usual ups and downs that everyone goes through. If you're life is good for the most part, check out an Anthony Robbins book or something. Now, if your pain and suffering is to the extent that you feel life is dark, murky, pointless... then that energy will be the fuel/drive to find a way out. I assure you that this book is the answer to your pain and suffering. In a nutshell, here's the bizarre answer: get in touch with your True Self. You're identified 100% with the false in you and that is the root of your pain and suffering. Yes, it does sound bizarre. And you'll probably resist this because you know no other way but your world of pain and suffering. I've been there, I know. I guarantee you with all my heart that there truly is a way out. Seeing the false as false and thus getting in touch with what's True is the ONLY answer. Anything else you do is mere candy-coating. I immersed myself in Tolle's resources, Adyashanti, Byron Katie, Anthony DeMello, and Gangaji. Now, Vernon also points in the same direction as the these people. But Vernon's style is fierce whereas the other people's style is gentle. And by the way... I love Anthony De Mello, but it turns out that A LOT of the stories/metaphors and what he had to say in general were from Vernon Howard's resources, including this book. As I read Mystic Path, it totally struck a chord with me like no other. It's an amazing book that's fresh and brand new despite being written in the 60's. In fact, I was blown away chapter after chapter at this man's style. He knows what he's talking about.

Everyone should read
I was at my OLD, small local library and came across this book. It has changed my life IMMENSELY. So I bought 3 copies from Amazon, one for me to keep and two to share with friends. I was raised Christian, but I am not religious- more spiritual. While the title seems a little out there, as soon as you start reading it, you get drawn in by the easy to read, common sense language. It is mildly New Age, but not something that Christians would run from. I believe in my abilities to take in what's useful and ignore the things that might not agree with my beliefs. But what I did realize while reading this book is just how closed minded we are taught to be in the church, and how much better off we would be if we would give things a chance. After reading this book, I am a much happier person, and MUCH less stressed. At first it was a conscious effort, and then it just came naturally. The book is NOT about religion, but about how our minds hold everything we need in order to live a happy, content life. And it is achievable for EVERYONE. It makes so much sense...

Beautiful writing....good complement to Peter Ralston's work
I don't know if I'll ever be able to experience life in the elegant way Vernon does, it's such an enchanting outlook.....seems to be innaccessible to the ordinary mind, though on close examination one will find much overlap with stoicism (which does seems within reach as a life-view) but anyway the writing is beautiful insofar as he makes (what is for me) a mind-boggling topic come through with logic yet still lofty, you wish you could have the guy nearby as a friend, sadly he died in '92 I believe. For those familiar with Peter Ralston, you'll find many parallels though style quite different....probably, like Ralston's books, one read is insuffienct. Probably I'll need to read it 2 or 3 times....

Persevere in finding peace of mind
I bought my copy in july of 2012. The book made me think about my anger and slowly over a two year period I now understand Howards words and how to stay above anger and to find peace of mind. I continue to read this book and other books by him. This book has helped our marriage. Desiring to change my lack of peace helped the reading of this book. After the second reading his ideas clicked and I am very happy to have persevered in the reading of Cosmic Power. Right now the books on manifesting are of help especially manifesting kindness. Consider Vernon Howard if you want more peace of mind. May God Bless you or may you find blessings as you walk the path.

Time well Spent
I spent a good part of my life trying to figure myself out only to discover the person I was trying to understand was not me at all, and the answer was not in my thought life. Self-sabotaging ways can never be understood at the level of thought because that is where they originate. The wisdom I was seeking was beyond thought. Through Vernon Howard's books I've discovered I can be aware of what I'm thinking. Watching my thoughts as a nonjudgmental observer, my intuitive self came into focus. The intuitive self is free of conditioning and self-harming ways. In the Christian tradition, it is walking in the spirit. This is a lifelong journey. You will always be on your way and never arrive. I highly recommended this book if this is what you're after.

Fantastic eye opener to the human mind condition!
The author of the book has clear insight into the human mind and how people are dominated by their thoughts and dont even realise it. He talks about how people create their own misery by following their confused mind. He offers a beautiful way out of this by helping the reader become aware of his/her true self, not the conditioned self. Fantastic read a must for anyone on the journey of self discovery. This book is the most honest and straight to the point read. You wont be disappointed with your purchase at all. Another person made a review and said all the book says is "follow the mystic path". Well that reader clearly was not reading this book with open eyes and missed massive amounts of insight. 5 out of 5!
