I was at a weeklong shoot in the middle of the woods when my card reader started acting up. No problem, I've got a spare. But as it happens, the USB-C adapter on that old reader disconnects it anytime you move it at all. I'm many miles from the nearest camera store. I've sunk thousands of dollars into a camera, lenses and computer, but my ability to show my work to the clients now hinges on failing gear that cost <$20. (In the tech world, this is what we call a single point of failure, which is why I had 2 readers. It's also why my camera writes all images to both cards.) As soon as I got home, I ordered two readers from Amazon, this one and another that had a cheap, light plastic case. Sent the other one back and ordered a second Unitek. No adapter here. It's got a USB-C connector. It transfers the files quickly. It's got a tough aluminum case that leads me to believe it's going to last a while. And because stuff happens, now I've got two of them.

I loved this SD Card reader. At the time of purchasing it, I had a limited budget to get this much needed device to make the switch from using my phone to my Camera. I got tired of airdropping videos to my Mac. Especially when it came to longer form content this would take a while. As soon as I got this SD Card reader I got to bypass that process all together! It was basically instant as soon as I plugged it in, I could access the file instantly. It was a God-sent. It arrived July 9th. And I used it perfectly find up until & Tuesday September 19th. When I found the white part of it, poppped out from the gray encasing. I suspect one of my children had gotten a hold of it & tugged on the cord to pop it out. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I popped it back into place not thinking much of it, but when I went to insert my SD card to transfer a video it would not work. The light came on, but no SD card was detected on my computer. My husband had a look too but whatever one of my children did, it broke it. So, I can’t tell about the true longevity of this product but I can say for the time being I had it it was good. A little bit on the cheaper side but a decent product. I’ve decided to go for something a little more heavy duty so it can withstand any more potential interactions with my children (even though I plan on keep it up far away, which I did with this one but it only takes 1 time of forgetting with kids to be the moment that does it in). If you have a small budget & need something that works—get this. It will hold you down until you are able to upgrade & possibly longer 👍🏾

Premature review just received today. First impressions are it feels nice with all cards tight. I am desking it so I do wish there was a longer cable option but the cable does feel nice and securely clicks in the port. Used it with the m4 Mac mini, and gaming pc. Both worked great. Only issue I had is I am using a gaming wireless keyboard with a lightspeed dongle instead of Bluetooth on the Mac mini front port. When the reader is plugged into the port next to the dongle my keyboard stops functioning. After research I found it is a common Mac issue and the fix was to plug the reader and dongle on opposite sides of the Mac. Plugged the reader in the back with my two externals and left the dongle in the front now works perfectly. I can’t speak for longevity but I will update this if there are any unforeseen issues later on.

Works great! Just used it to get 1,500 plus photos off my older camera and the quality of the photos is perfect, I had bought a different one and when it transferred the photos it ruined them and took ages, this one does not took no longer than 10 minutes and the quality is still amazing! Would recommend and buy again if needed!

Good, fast and reliable transfers

works well BUT none of the 3 ends you proposed would do, so I had to hunt down the right one to finally be able to hook it up. CUSRTOMERS BE CAREFUL, IT TOOK ME 3 DIFF. PLACES TO FIND AN ADAPTER.

I do a bit of photo and video as a hobby and this is a very hand little gadget, plugs directly into Mac mini and works well. Build quality is good and speed is fine even with footage from 360 camera.
