Magnets hold through spray-in bedliner on 2024 GMC Canyon
This little bar has been well worth the price and I can't imagine not having it now. Somewhat surprisingly, the magnets are strong enough to hold the bar to the side of the bed in my 2024 GMC Canyon even through the spray-in bedliner. I'm sure it might bounce off if I did serious high-speed offroading, but it has stuck there just fine for several weeks of normal paved, dirt, and light offroad driving.Note that the bar is designed to pull but not push. The clamps that hold the bar sections in their extended positions are just friction clamps. The structure of the bar mechanically limits the sections from being pulled apart but only the friction from the clamps keep the bar sections from sliding back to their collapsed positions. That means that you can push lighter things away from the tailgate toward the bulkhead in the bed of the truck but the bar will collapse if you try to push anything heavy. This isn't a problem for me, as I don't need it for pushing heavy things and it was easy to see the design of the bar before I purchased it. You can pull very heavy things toward the tailgate, even with a rough texture bedliner like the spray-in bedliner in my truck. That's what it's designed for and it works very well for that.It does extend out to a full five feet, but since my truck only has a 5'2" bed I haven't need to extend that last little section with the detent button to reach everything. Just sliding extending the larger sections with the clamps has been plenty. You can also slide that last section all the way out by pressing the detent button again so that you can turn the right angle hook part the opposite direction so it faces up if you want to stick it to the other side of your truck bed.The only potential issue that I can see may eventually happen is the adhesive pads sticking the magnets to the bar may weaken or slide a bit if the temps get really hot, like under a black tonneau cover in the middle of summer. We're in mid-July in the Pacific Northwest now, and one of the pads may have moved a tiny bit so far. This isn't a real issue for me so far so I'm not taking away a star for it, but if you're in very hot regions it could be an issue for you.

Rust
I’ll like it could be a foot longer and started seeing rust on the rod

Bed Buddi
Is actually a Bed Buddi . Not a knock off. Great product. Magnets stick to a factory bed lined Chevy ZR2 Colorado. Fits below diamond back cover and very easy to use. Very happy with purchase..

So far so good. 3.5 stars
This is all very solid except for the plastic 'quick release clasps' is all fine and well now, but I have to question its durability over time and use.One reviewer noted that this is a weak link when using this tool to push heavier items back into the truck, saying it can be done but one must be careful.I have not tried this yet, but it is apparent using those plastic or vinyl clasps that seem destined to only fail. They made a good pull tool and not so much a push tool.Come on, guys - "if one has this tool to pull items back from the front of the bed, they are also going to have to..."For my part, I thought 5' would be sufficient, but even with a 6.5" bed, this is too short for my liking and even worse if the gate has to be lowered to get at an item up by the front of the bed. An extra 6" should suffice. As it is, it is annoyingly 'just...too---short...' to reach items at the very back without climbing up on the bumper and contorting or opening it and having to climb in - defeating its own purpose. The magnets are strong, sufficient to hold the hook in place inside a select 'nook' area of either side of the rear of the box, very near the tailgate, without use of the mounting plate in my 2012 Silverado 1500 LT (so far)I'd also like to see the spade rubber coated. That seems to make sense, as well as having something of a crook on the spade (A tip in the "L") or at least a small protuberance to serve as a hook to catch items located on it's reverse side of the spade. This is the best option that I've come across so far and am surprised that these relatively slight enhancements are not available, even as an option modification. If you have a short bed, this is probably perfect (enough).
