Point Driver, Picture Framing Tool with 1000 Points

I’m a watercolor artist and I like to go to thrift stores looking for frames for various paintings. Frequently the frames have missing or broken backs and the fittings to hold a back on. When I became aware of the products to insert the backing points, I ordered this gun. It came well packaged and when promised. I have had it for several months and have been completely satisfied with how well it is working for me. It is well made and a fairly heavy metal, so it isn’t going to fall apart anytime soon. Good value for the money.

The least pleasurable part of being an artist is framing. It’s not creative, and I just want to hurry and finish so that I can get back to painting. My old point driver breathed its last breath and I purchased this as a replacement. WOW! Things have sure improved in 20 years. This is smooth, easy and really quick. It is heavy-duty, comes with quite a few points and makes a distasteful job actually pleasant. I highly recommend this particular item. You won’t be disappointed.

Needed this to make a custom frame for a calendar in our dining room. The frame was made of MDF and this made it very easy to install tabs directly into the frame rabbits. It loaded very easily and didn’t jam. The points went in perfectly. They are strong and I have zero “wiggle” in the mdf. I have not tried it on hardwoods yet, but for softwoods and mdf this is a perfect, low-cost option that keeps me from having to add little nails or staples that are very hard to remove and aren’t as clean if an install.

Works so much better than I expected. It just works, I've used it in poplar, walnut, alder, and oak frames. Heck I've even used it in a couple of plastic frames and it has just worked. I think the 1000 points will probably last me the rest of my life. The quality is great loads smooth, triggers smooth. Just an all around good point driver.

Seems a bit chinsey. But in truth, it does the job. I'm new with using something like this. Seemed pretty straight forward. There seems to be a tensioning dial that adjusts the depth of the pins shot into the wood. The color is awful but that's just preference. It performs well. The pins seem flimsy, but they also hold well.

I used it the first day I received it. Works great, no jams! Seems to be very heavy duty, well made. Very happy with the purchase.

I bought this when I decided to DIY a nice picture. This thing works just great. No mor bending the tabs back. Just replace them. I expect the pros opinions may differ. But it worked fine for me.

Treibt die Punkte/Stifte rein, ja. Aber nicht so tief, wie erwartet. Man muss schon echt feste mit dem Gerät gegen den Rahmen drücken, bevor man abdrückt, damit der Punkt/Stift einigermaßen tief steckenbleibt. Sonst erfüllt das Gerät seinen Zweck – gerade bei IKEA-Rahmen, wie RIBBA und dergleichen.

I have only used this once to try it out. I bought this because it was less expensive than others, and I didn't think I'd be using a point driver much but wanted to have one on hand. After trying it and finding it very stiff and cumbersome to use with my small, arthritic hands, I came back to the pictures of it on Amazon. I realized then that I had been using it backwards. So you might want to make sure the driver end is pointing the right way to make it easier to grip.

I have to make my glass groove bigger to use this tool.
