Nature'S Way - Valerian Nighttime 100 Tablets 53422

I bought this to take with Nature's Way Hops Flower because the OLD "Silent Night Blend" USED to have this ingredient mixed in with it already. I wish Nature's Way would have kept their old blend going because it was highly effective for sleeping well! Now I have to buy 2 separate products just to get the SAME EFFECTS as the old stuff sadly. Anyways, this is an effective product for sleeping as well thankfully. Enjoy!

I was taking a prescription sleep aid and my doctor really wanted me to wean off of it. Finally, I tearfully told her I would try and did an internet search and stumbled on Valerian Root and it had a pretty good revue. I did read where it has a horrible odor, so I was pleased to find that Natures Way offered a coated version with very little odor escaping. Anyway, I decided to take the maximum dosage it recommended (3 tablets) about 1/2 hour before bedtime. To my amazement, I eventually got to sleep, and could sleep through the night. I should note that I don't get a nice good deep sleep under any circumstances, one of the side effects of Fibromyalgia. This Nighttime version gets me to sleep as well as my prescription sleep aid did, so since October of 2013, this is what I have been taking each and every night.

Helps me sleep

I've been taking the NATURE'S WAY, Valerian Root capsules (brown ones in my photo), and they work, but they smell too much to carry around (for unexpected situations), so I carry some of these (Valerian Nighttime = orange pills in photo) around with me in a tube in my pocket instead. These still smell bad, actually, though it's not as terrible as the capsules. It definitely works for social anxiety and panic, making stressful situations easier and "muting" the body's panic response. It also has side effects, though. Like other sedatives it produces a drowsy, dull, foggy feeling in my brain, and after a while starts to feel like the beginnings of a headache? But I don't think it has ever turned into a real headache. The recommended dosage for sleeping is 1-3 tablets (160 to 480 mg valerian, with 80 to 240 mg lemon balm). I take 1 tablet for mild anxiety or 2 for panic attacks. It takes probably half an hour to reach full effect, and then lasts for a few hours.

I have tried Valerian in many forms. Liquid, capsules and now these tablets. It has zero effect on me even in quantities that are probably unsafe. These tablets, as well as every other Valerian product, smell like trucker swamp butt mid-summer in Texas. You can't cannot hide the stink, so I don't blame manufacturing. I'm sure this is a fine product that I know works for others, just not me so I'm not going to dock it any stars for effectiveness either. This is a great trustworthy, high quality brand. Manufactured well. If you know this supplement type works for you and you'd like to try a new brand, I'd recommend it. But Lordy it sure does smell awful LOL 😷
