is this power supply suitable for a 5 A 12 V pump?

It is suitable for anything that requires 5 amps or less and 12 Volts DC.

Can it run two lamps rated 12V 700mA together?

Yes. However, the lamps must be wired in a configuration called "parallel." Each lamp has two connections - for lamp one, call the connections A1 and B1. A2 and B2 for the second lamp. As conveniently as possible, connect A1 to A2 and then connect the pair to one side of the power supply. Connect B1 to B2 and then connect the result to the other side of the power supply. Task is more easy with lamps mounted in sockets.

Why does this make the lights plug so hot?? Ive only pluged in for 2 minutes and it was so hot

Sounds like u have a wire crossed.. it should not be warm or hot..check your wiring again

Is this compatible with an led tv requiring 12v / 5a power supply?

I am not sure, I got this power supply for multi colored led strip lights for indoor use. if you Google your specs, it'll tell you in the power requirements. best of luck
