how thick are the pads themselves?

Each pad is approximately 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch thick...leaning closer to 1/2 inch. They are well made.

Are these helmet pads for motorcycle helmet?

Yes ,if your helmet is worn and old these pads help it back to shape !!

Will this fit in a size large helmet?

Yes. You may not need every pad depending on how you lay them out. But they do fit
