Safety 1st Lift Lock & Swing Dual-Mode Baby Gate, Fits 28"-42", White

This is extremely difficult if not impossible to expand, which is the entire purpose!

Got this for grandchild visits. We wanted a safety gate that could easily be removed when grandchild isn’t here. This is PERFECT. The hinges are installed on one side, and the catches on the opposite, but these are small parts and hardly noticeable. The gate itself drops into the hinges, and easily lifts out. When the little one leaves, we can remove the gate in about 15 seconds. The installation template is included and really helpful. The gate itself is adjustable but as it’s just one piece, it wasn’t hard to figure out. This is not the first gate we bought but it’s definitely the last. We got a second one and love that they are so sturdy and still easy to use.

This gate is nice and decently priced. It has so far held up to my 1 year old trying to knock it down so I believe its safe and sturdy. However, my only advice is not to use this for a room or doorway where you will need to take it down frequently. Its kind of annoying to open back up again and again. Its not that easy.

If your house has HIGH floor trim, this is the gate for you!! We have tried two other baby gates and none of them have been secure enough for installation above our trim. This is a pressure gate, so the whole gate can either be fully removed or installed to swing open. It comes with hardware for installation for both options. We did NOT want to install any hardware due to the nature of our walls, so you might notice that in my picture/video, we don’t have the brackets installed, which is not recommended, but if you’re like us and looking for a secure “no-drill” baby gate, this one passes with flying colors. We have a 90lb black lab and a 19 month old and this gate holds up to both so far. Usage is very simple, you just press the button in and pull the handle up. Video doesn’t do it justice, as I’m filming with the other hand and it does require a bit of pressure to push down the handle. Definitely recommend!!

I bought 3 of the best they have to offer out there and this one was indeed the best. All of them claimed one hand operation, but this one truly is, especially if you choose not to hard mount it, but install it in the same size opening over and over again. The other two designs require you to rotate a handle that's located about half way down on one side. So by design, you're already bending over. On gate number one, my hand kept slipping off the handle because it was too smooth and it required my other hand to lock it in place. On gate number two, the handle had a better grip and was easier to lock in places having the same width. But sometimes there wasn't enough rotation travel on the handle to do that without readjusting the gate all over again. Trust me, save your money and buy this gate from the start. You won't be sorry. And buy the way, your dog will probably clime right over it if that's what you're buying it for. My puppy had no trouble getting over all three gates when he was about 5 1/2 months old (18 lbs.). He only respects the gate when I'm home.

I bought this gate to keep the dogs on the floor that I'm on. It's going back unless somebody can give me hints on how to efficiently open and close the darned thing. It must have taken about 15 minutes or more of trying to lift the handle beyond the unlocked icon. I finally got it by trying to stabilize the gate with my legs and using two hands to hold the release down while giving the handle a hard pull because at that point, I didn't care if I broke the darned thing. Then, I couldn't even get the gate to slide because some genius at the factory thought it would be smart to put the hardware inside the gate. The bag of hardware kept jamming the two panels so I couldn't get the pieces to slide. I had to get a spatula to hold the gate with one hand while I used the other to direct the spatula to push them out. Of course, that was after my hand, which isn't huge, got stuck for a bit. Then, I took it to the bottom of the stairs to attach it and gave up after more wasted time. Maybe the piece needs to be used or oiled or something but I could not try to slide the panels and secure it between the opening. I had to practically stand on my head to see if the handle slid down, locking the panels, which it did more than once. I don't have the patience for this. So I'm sending it back. I'm am pretty mechanically inclined and do small repairs around the house but this thing was a PITA. I would have rated it no stars but I didn't want anybody to think I forgot to do that section but 1 is far too high a rating for the piece that I got.

I ordered this considering i can stop my little one from entering the kitchen when we are cooking. Once i receive this order, it seemed sturdy enough to handle the pressure my son was going to place on this. Installation was little tricky as you will need a drill to make correct hole and adjust it multiple times. I was able to do that after some efforts. Once installation was done, the real problem started where it was really difficult to lock and unlock this gate. You have to pull a handle real hard till it reaches unlock position and then press one button to make it unlock in real. I am not sure how this is supposed to be done holding the baby in other hand (going by the pictures and videos on the description). Same thing goes for locking this as you need to keep one button pressed and then take the handle to lock position. I was hoping a simple mechanism to lock and unlock as we are already tired with the way it works now and my wife leaves it unlocked most of time now. I would recommend to look around for other gates with simpler (i don't mean something that even babies can open) lock and unlock process.

We just got a new puppy and this gate was the answer to our prayers. We use it to confine the puppy in the kitchen area away from our older dog and as the puppy grows, we will use it to block off the stairs. It is made of sturdy material and fits everywhere. The only negative comment I could make is when it comes to release the gate, the secondary release latch button is hard to release. This might get easier with use. All in all, I give it a 5 star because of the quality of the material and its adaptability to fit everywhere

Like any parent it got to the point where we needed to get a baby gate to keep our little one from wandering around the apartment in certain areas. It's easy to install and extremely sturdy. Very light as well but not saying it's easily tippable either. You just have to place it right to begin with. Though I do wish it extended a little bit more for where we needed it. That was easily fixable with a board against the wall keeping it in place. It also does come with wall mount screws and mounts if you want to mount it to a wall. We decided against it due to our damage deposit may be effected by putting holes in the wall. Overall good product none the less.

So far this gate is working great for keeping our puppy out of places. We had the same one when we had toddlers as well and it was good then too (but we gave it away when our kids were old enough and we thought we wouldn't need it anymore lol). I had originally bought a gate designed for dogs, made of metal, but the supports for it took up literally half of the doorway, making it hard to fit through. So I returned it and bought 2 of these. This gate lets me have the full doorway to fit through. And it's easily portable if you're not needing it secured to the wall. Once secured, it works well as a swing gate. It is a bit hard to undo the lock on the handle, so that's the only down side. Still a great gate, especially for the price!
