Still going good years later
This is a very good quality toaster. I've had it 4 years now and it's still working excellently. It's simple, basic, classic. It's nice and lightweight, and simple to clean out. It's easy to use and fits a pretty decent size of slice. It toasts quickly and the toast tastes great afterwards. Very durable and lasting build. Good value for money. Recommended.

A good quality small, easy to use toaster.
This was a decent quality, easy to use small toaster. The controls were self explanatory. It also looked smart and almost matched my kettle. A good buy.

Bought this to replace my old toaster which had finally bitten the dust !
It's well packaged . Arrived a day or two early. Always a bonus !Smart chic colour a reputable make and a good choice for the money. Under twenty pounds !Read instructions as it tells you to pop the toaster on empty for the first time to get rid of any manufacturing smells.I did just that and was really surprised how quickly the smell vanished the first time I toasted crumpets in the toaster .I would buy this make of toaster again.Great bargain!

Why this is not the perfect toaster, but could have been
There are two basic facts that toaster manufacturers for the British market always fail to grasp:A) There is no such thing as a standard slice of bread, even the same loaves from the same baker can be different in height, width and thickness. The bread I prefer varies from 5inches to 5.5inches high.B) All we want is evenly toasted bread, a simple request and easily achieved with a little better quality control. You don’t need to test a toaster for evenness, just a simple visual check will tell you. Look at the element wire inside the toaster, if it is slightly bent so the centre is off the base, then that bit will glow bright and toast properly. If the wire is flat against the base, that will heat but never glow or toast the bread properly. If you want to check this theory out, toast a slice and look at the element wire as you do. Where the wire is flat on the base, the bread will not be browning, unlike the bread where the wire is bent out. See photos, lines point to where wire doesn’t glow so bread doesn’t brown. This is the third toaster I have tried, so far has toasted the most even, but there are still areas where the bread hasn’t browned, or where one side is less toasted than the other. Photo 1 shows parts of the wire bent off the base and glowing brightly, next to sections flat on the base and hardly showing any glow at all. Photo 2 and 3 shows how the outside element has lots of bright glowing strips whilst the middle has hardly any glowing strips, hence uneven browning. The other two makes of toasters were even worse for having large sections where the wire was flat on the base, plus had shorter and less deep slots. Even two toasters of the same make didn’t toast the same, both went back as faulty. What are the solutions ?1) Make the slots at least 6 inches long and 5.5 inches deep, so they will take virtually a slice from any bread maker.2) Improve manufacturing, so that all little sections of wire are all bent off the base the same distance, across the whole of the element. Then the heat will be even, the glow even and the bread toasted evenly.I would happily pay £2 or £3 more for evenly toasted slices, and being able to toast different sized slices. Pros: not very noisy when releasing, longer slot, cover well off elements and good ventilation around top. Cons: no lift&look. Will struggle a bit longer to see if I can get better even toast, but still looking for that toaster that takes a long slice and toasts evenly. If only !
